Manager Pep Guardiola

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

He could have moaned about the penalty decision with Walker/Sterling, could have moaned that Kane was offside in the build up to the equalising goal etc. but said how when we are allowed to play we are the best team in the league. I think he and Poch have huge respect for eachother, so not surprised.

There is that... but also, he was clearly irked at the start of the post match interview when asked about the 'pen'... yet he was itching to talk about it!

It would've been interesting had Guy Mowbray JUST talked about the game... about Man City being 2-0 up, and still not winning... whilst not making ONE mention of the ref.
Pep woulda been livid, and tried to shoe-horn it into the post match conversation!

Besides, the ref's performance WAS part of the game... so why NOT talk about it?

Got to say that no one should wish ill on anyone but I want to see Guardiola and Mourinho show their worth without the best talent.

Been disappointed by the guy's whingeing. I expect nothing less from Mourinho and whilst I accept they are both quality coaches I do think like the Motor Racing drivers, if you gave them average squads they would not be quite so full of themselves.

Perhaps Pep, but Mourinho has quite the track record with Porto and Inter - both were not free spending clubs full of galacticos

So Pep thinks they should scrap FA Cup replays:

He said: “In Spain, we play two games. I prefer that situation. Maybe for the amount of games played, extra-time and penalties would be good.

“But OK, I’m not here to decide the rules of how we play the competition, I’m here to play the competition in the way that the chairmen and the important people decide.

“I prefer the quality over the quantity. Not only here in England, all around the world. It’s a big mistake, so many games.

“You have to allow people to go to the theatres, the cinemas, the good restaurants and not play every game in front of the TV. We’re going to kill the players.

“We could have the same quality, same intensity but a few less games. That is just my point of view.”

So, to summarise, he would prefer replays to be scrapped, because there are too many games as it is, but also prefers games to be played over 2 legs.

I'm starting to think he's more than a little dense

Maybe he's also suggesting scrapping the League Cup entirely?

Either way, the bloke is a dick.

Trying to blame everything but himself for how he's not suddenly walking it over here.

i.e. he wouldn't have to worry about a replay against Huddersfield if his half a billion pound squad could score against them.

It's funny how most of the foreign managers are shocked about the amount of games we play over here. How they are scheduled so we can demand massive tv rights money.
Then we wonder why our international team look jaded and shit in tournaments and why our teams have been faltering in Europe whilst "weaker ' less prosperous leagues, like Spain and Germany, prosper.
Yet we have the British pundits, the usual suspects, saying we never got tired.
No Phil, you didn't play your European matches in a mini league and have 6 games before you got to the KO stages You played 6 games and got to the final. It's now 12 games to get to the EC final (or 14 to EL if KO 'd at group stages) .Also the game was far more different. No way was it as demanding. May have been more physicality in tackles but not as fast or powerful.
It is senseless. Look at the amount of games we are playing we have played 36 games so far
If we progress to both finals we will have played 59 games to get there by the end of the season and that's getting knocked out of the EFL cup.
By comparison if Chelsea were to get to the FA cup final they would have played 47 with their squad.
You need a big squad of quality players and to be very lucky with injuries.
