What did he say?Strange comments from Guardiola, especially after coming off the back of a 4-0 drubbing.
He said the only team who has played better than them this season was Tottenham.
He said the only team to outplay them in a football match this season is Tottenham when we beat them 2-0.
I get what he's saying though. Statswise, Everton wasn't really that good and only had 4 shots on goals (from which they scored from basically back line mistakes). We turned them over and made them our bitch. He said the only team to outplay them in a football match this season is Tottenham when we beat them 2-0.
Stats can be misleading. As in this case.I get what he's saying though. Statswise, Everton wasn't really that good and only had 4 shots on goals (from which they scored from basically back line mistakes). We turned them over and made them our bitch.
I'm confused. Are you saying Everton were better than stats suggested?
Ha, I'm saying they won 4-0. Goals - the ultimate stats.I'm confused. Are you saying Everton were better than stats suggested?
Yes but that doesn't necessarily mean that Everton played good against City though. But a loss is a loss no matter how good your team played. Something Pep is just finding out being in England.
Ok, but if we'd have beaten City with Everton's performance and somebody suggested that City were better I'd laugh at them. They weren't better, they were abject. Everton picked them off - it was no fluke.Yes but that doesn't necessarily mean that Everton played good against City though. But a loss is a loss no matter how good your team played. I'd agree to disagree. That 4-0 score line doesn't show the whole picture. Everton weren't complete shit, but they weren't Barcelona either. That's why I piggybacked off ofOk, but if we'd have beaten City with Everton's performance and somebody suggested that City were better I'd laugh at them. They weren't better, they were abject. Well I watched the game, but as I was laughing so much, l concede I might have missed something.I'd agree to disagree. That 4-0 score line doesn't show the whole picture. Man City were shitty defensively which was obvious and don't play like a team which is also obvious. But the game certainly wasn't a drubbing and I can understand why even after a 4-0 loss Pep can say that we were still the best team he's faced. They'd had one chance in the first half and took it.
They took all the others in the 2nd , maybe they had one more which they didn't.
Man City were awful in all departments really Everton made them pay.
However, City had much more of the ball and offensively did more
I know what you mean. The scorline is not indicative of their performance. I can also understand why he say that about us.Man City were shitty defensively which was obvious and don't play like a team which is also obvious. When he went to Bayern he inherited a decent squad too. Extended the contracts of 10 key players.I don't understand why he left Barcelona. As successful as he was there, he didn't build the foundations of his achievements - that was built way back by the Dutch influence. He inherited a great squad so it was really a case of just keeping everyone happy and letting the trophies roll in.
Poch on the other hand has built something pretty much from the foundations, changing the style of play, overhauling the squad, introducing new training methods. That is a far harder task and I don't think Guardiola has it in him, frankly.
Yep. I'm not saying that he isn't a very successful manager, just look at the trophies won. I think he has taken on a rebuilding project at Man City, and he probably didn't realise the scale of the task ahead of him.
If he's going to be given time to do that at Man City he may yet succeed.Yep. I'm not saying that he isn't a very successful manager, just look at the trophies won. I think he has taken on a rebuilding project at Man City, and he probably didn't realise the scale of the task ahead of him.
Both Barcelona and Bayern have decades of success behind them, but the same can't be said of Man City, who last time I checked have still yet to do anything in Europe. He would have been better off going to a club like AC Milan.
Bayern did win the fucking treble the year before, not so much foundations as the whole fucking house...When he went to Bayern he inherited a decent squad too. Extended the contracts of 10 key players.
He bought Kirchhoff , stole Goetze and brought Thiago form Barca .
Next season he bought lewandowski , bernat , Alonso. benatia who made a few apps in the league and Reina who made a few.
The foundations were already laid there
