He was the least worst out of our 2 CM's yesterday.
On the basis he didn't hide after a few bad touches and kept plugging away.
We really need Skkipp and Bentancur back and swinging as the Hoinks pairing is truly terrible.
At the very best, you don't notice either are playing. At the very worst , you do notice.
Not convinced - for me, it doesn’t matter what his role is. He simply doesn’t get near to good players. He doesn’t get a kick vs players like Kovacic, Kante etc time and time again. Check out his disappearing act at the Emirates.
You need to stop dividing his good games / bad games into position / fatigue
He’s bad against good teams and sometimes ok against bad teams. That’s the crux. A very average championship level player

He's a better 8..... So is Winks...... Ergo we suck when we play without a natural 6.
The way to overcome that is to play a 3rd CM and not consign us to being outnumbered from kick-off.
Last sentence spot on but cant agree he was a good 6. He had a good 2 months at the start of last season when he played above himself. He certainly hasnt shown that form with us since or at Southampton. Since Christmas 2020 he has been dreadful. I mean this could apply to half a dozen players to be fair but no one really sticks up for Winks, Sanchez, Doherty, Emerson etc. I think and hope we'll sell him come summer whilst his value is still relatively decent. We have to do better.

He just never seemed to learn from making the same mistake over and over again.
Constantly slowing things down, dawdling on the ball and either being robbed or turining over posession.
Even worse when the team was in an attacking phase of play, he was guilty several times of making the wrong decision.

So many times our forwards make runs, he sees them but chickens out and plays a safe pass. How can you win matches consistently with players who don’t like to pass the ball forward?
They have got to get out of this mentality where they are so scared to give the ball away that they refuse to get it forward.

I disagree - he was a breath of fresh air for a few months but was soon stinking the place out.

So in that respect a combo of Winks / PEH is 6th choice.

To what ends are you pointing this out tho'....? It's a bit like complaining that a 3rd place GK concedes more goals than Lloris.
As per my 1st post; you can't play what you haven't got, but there are other formations and tactics available to give us a more competitive MF.

(As far as worst in the league goes; run down a comparrison to some of the other 6th choice MFs for me..... Comparing them to another teams 1st choice is false equivalence.... In fact, try it against their 9th or 10th cos I'd rather pick numerous 3man combo's from our squad ahead of that duo too.)
