Pleat has always had a good eye for domestic talent. Our uptick in stature has sadly meant that we don't do as much shopping in the domestic leagues as we used to. I think our most recent get through his word was Clarke, and before that Dele.

He's getting on in years but if he is still active it would not be a bad idea to have him do some scouting for the rebuild. Especially since he is a guy that Levy has a track record of listening to.
Half the England team played in the championship. Strongly believe we should buy the best two players from that league every year. Low agent costs, low salaries and high sell on if it doesn’t work out (plus no other ‘big 6’ to compete with)

Do I remember a time when we were waiting forever for Levy to pick a new manager? Was it Santini? I'm getting anxiety just remembering how long it took
I feel like a good part of my life has been spent waiting for Levy to choose a new manager. At this point i find it hard to maintain interest as it's like driving down a road you've been down a hundred times.

It's definitely worth having eyes and ears in the championship. We probably don't need to shop there every window. But we should be dipping in there regularly. And send our kids out on loan to keep the clubs sweet.

Is that really the case? I'd written him off as an option due to contract but that's coming from a place of ignorance if 3m is the buyout. He's worth looking into for sure.
approx 13 of the 20 managers are on £5m pa or less.

If we wanted a prehistoric football manager we could have got the better performing one and paid Moyes his West Ham salary and saved £12m per year!! Would have most likely had got us plodding into the top 4 too, generating us the cash (+£70m) to sack him, pay him out of his contract in full and still have approx £10m change from Mourinho's annual salary!!!

Look at this season.... Sarr, Aaron’s and Olise, poss Will Hughes all improve our starting 11

Of course you'd "maim some cunt for a sniff of a Europa League" your boy Jose fucked up royally in Europe.

You honestly believe Levy was going to turn around and give the, to use your phrase, "most entitled" manager a shitload of money. Did you see what happened at Man Ure? £420million and the whinging bastard claimed he never got any support from the board. How much did you see Levy giving him? £600million, £700million?? Really?
Yes. I think if the pandemic hadn’t fucked us, we’d have been in a higher position, would have played better football and Jose would have got a fair whack of cash to spend in the summer on new players. I also think he was the one guy who could persuade Levy to part with the dreck in our squad.

As it is, I now accept that we will get a decent manager in next season who will give the dreck a chance to prove themselves. This will fail yet again and we’ll be arguing in another thread in 18 months time.

Imagine where we'd be if Levy had just backed Pochettino, and let him build what he wanted to continue building.

I think Poch was emotionally drained after the previous 5 years, there was nothing left in the tank. I reckon he was relieved when given the sack, he had time to get away and recharge before taking his next job

Levy should have backed Pochettino when we finished 3rd and 2nd. For example when we sold Walker we should have had the ambition to replace him with a better player. Instead we gave Trippier the nod just because he remained professional and didn’t complain whilst he was Walker’s back-up...

We never had another creative player besides Eriksen. When he was turd, we were turd. We never had a player who could properly push Kane. Llorente was the closest we’ve had in terms of back-up, however that’s where our problems are. We look for Kane back-up instead of someone close to replace him.

and not very good at shooting!
We can buy Sissoko for them then.

Yes you read that right. We can pay money to Brighton to take Sissoko off our hands.

Then we can pay more money to Brighton to take Bissouma off their hands.

Everyone wins.
