I don't think it's unlikely at all that we could offer Conte 150M to spend and give him whatever we make from Aurier, Sissoko, Dier, Winks, Lamela etc

Last summer we spent £55m on Rodon, Reguilon and Doherty. We swapped KWP for Hojbjerg and signed Hart on a free, Vinicius and Bale on loan.

About 90m last year and 80m the year before so most of our spending more recent with a total of 200m net spend over the past 5 years which is about mid range for the Prem according to transfermarket.

I'm really fighting with myself over the cynicism. Head and heart are both thinking Levy can't be that stupid.

Feels like Conte and Paratici are both still coming, though. Just wondering 'what if'.

I'm not particularly enamoured with the idea of Conte either. I know he's a great manager who can get the job done, I just don't think he's a compatible fit for us right now.

Seems bizarre to me that Levy is trying to bring in a DOF/sporting director, and Rangnick isn’t first name on the list. The profile of project Rangnick has overseen at RB - installing a footballing philosophy and overseeing the recruitment of coaches, players and recruitment people, on reasonable budgets, added to the fact that he’s lived in the U.K. previously, screams perfect to me.

I would much rather we went down the Rangnick/young progressive coach project reboot route - gave our club some kind of identity and stuck to it for years to come (ie Ajax, Dortmund, RB type profile) than we lurch from ill-fitting big name manager to ill-fitting big name manager.

I wonder if it is to keep Kane. One last attempt. But I agree with what you are writing.
 
Pretty shambolic if we don't get him as it signifies whoever else (Ten Haag) is second choice and also that we don't have the funds to rebuild the squad so expect to see Winks, Dele and Dier putting in masterclasses for another 2 seasons.

I still think we get it over the line. This transfer window and managerial appointment is a real crossroads for Enic. They build a superclub off the pitch but need it to start acting like one on the pitch otherwise their investment slowly devalues.
 
this makes me want conte more, he knows this club needs to be ambitious ffs levy you tool this is a chance to get an elite manager in and put us on the map again. i dont want another 5 yrs 10 yrs of rebuilds, im 30 i dont want to die and not see us win anything
