Anyway it seems as if justice was done. The jury took no time at all in reaching not guilty verdicts. I read there was 15 minutes of jury deliberations, which is just enough time for everyone to say "hi" to each other and lambast the prosecution.

Joking aside, we don't know what truly happened and never will. Only them two do. But the fact of the matter is, the lad's been cleared.
Unfortunately for him, those headlines calling him a rapist/sexual offender will never go away. Mail etc made a mockery - once again - of that underrated thing called presumption of innocence. He also lost his livelihood IIRC as Sunderland terminated his contract after the story broke, did they not? He should sue the fucking media for jumping the gun aka slander and also SAFC to get his lost wages paid.
But yeah, bet you that wherever he goes, he'll always be called a rapist. If he does manage to get his career back on track, he'll just have to put up with the shouting from opposition fans. That's the accusation that never ever goes away.
Thing is with this case is that people are always going to say “you were found not guilty, but no one really knows what happened”.
I’ve mentioned it before on here but someone I know at uni was accused of rape (two people actually), after a very long process it went to court and he was eventually found not guilty when it emerged that he could not have possibly have done it as he was half way across the country when the alledged incident took place. Turned out the woman just made it all up to try and get revenge for something he had allegedly done. Guess what happened to her? Nothing. Yet he still lives with a cloud over his head even though the proof is there. Her name was never released publicly.
It goes without saying that rape is an abhorrent crime. But in my eyes, falsely accusing someone of it is just as bad. I guess only they’ll know - but I certainly couldn’t live with myself if I knew I had done something so fucking evil.
