Was just reading about that. He’s admitted ‘many’ of the offences so must be looking at a length ban. Trippier got 10 weeks for one incident so Toney must be looking at a year or two for 200+ offences.
I just don't understand why a PL player, who has to be earning in a year what most people would regard a lottery win, would risk it all and do something so daft. How much money does an individual need?

Footballers are human so like everyone else susceptible to gambling addictions, etc.

Or maybe he was just too thick to know what he was doing was wrong?

Joey Barton got 13 months for 1,260 offences, so won't be that high. Most places are saying guessing "several" months, so between 3 and 5 I guess.

Yes it appreciate that, but I'm assuming that the problem was he was gambling on football. If it had been on the horses, he wouldn't be in trouble? I'm not au fair with the technicalities.

I imagine it’s not about the financial returns but the boredom of being a footballer and the susceptibility to gambling or addictions as another poster wrote.

Still the buzz of gambling though, right?

Given the detail of what we're talking about, it veers more into the buzz of getting 'dodgy money' and/or not getting caught.

There's less gamble by playing with a stacked deck.

These guys are just the kids that bought the cheat code magazines for the video games. They want to play, but they only want to win.

True....... Still struggling to muster any sympathy ahead of my prior thoughts.

Really? It just makes no sense to go see a married footballer in his house while his wife is away other than for 'relations'. She wouldnt go there to play board games. It seems they realise the dudes not gona give her expensive gifts so they have regrets.
They were seeing each other, but that doesn’t mean she has to have sex with him just because she went to his house.
