enic could have made profit out of us if they got a few things right previously. where would we be right now if they invested shrewdly in the team when we had berbatov and keane? where would we be if they done the same when we had bale and modric? it didnt need mega money it just needed good solid recruitment nailed by people that understand football.

as you said its about spending money at the right time and taking advantage of opportunities. they didnt do this. the money they got for them 4 compared to what they could of got from regular CL football and pushing the club to be proper contenders which would of happened was a poor business/football decision.

They won't take even calculated risks. They're completely risk averse.
It's like deciding you want to be a professional gambler and spending the rest of your life placing £1 on 1/100 events.

Looks like they're going to Liverpool, I'm fine with that. There's ways to succeed in football without selling your soul.

isnt that the old twitter news from the weekend? the other sites and papers are just rehashing that story now as its alleged full take over.
QSI can't take over any english football club, so it's either nonsense or a "different" entity

but this club in the right hands can be successful and still run as a solid self sustained business. the infrastructure is in place. i dont think it needs an ownership model who are looking to spunk dough for trophies. it can be run well within FFP and still be successful. i think paratici has defo got more right than wrong and maybe in a couple years things will be a lot brighter after he has some more time to work. but we still have the soft fucking core of losers that have been letting us down for the best part of a decade. the only player who deserves to stay is kane. lloris, dier, son, davies, sanchez, sess, get these little yellow bellied losers out the door as quick as possible

Do you think Arse can win the league this season?
Aside from the obvious (my pure hatred!), this is the worst thing to have happen. In reality, most people realize they’re punching way above their weight and other clubs that really should be good this year are not. It’s a weird set of circumstances.

But what it does is gives all of the non-financially doors clubs this false hope that “if they did it, we can to!” It’s an anomaly. If they win (and god I hope they don’t), does it put Arteta among the best managers? Not in my view. It’s a good run that might be enough, but it’s as much of them being “not terrible” while others are bad as it is of them being amazing. Look no further than yesterday. They looked good…because we were disinterested, disjointed and overall not good. They didn’t impress their will on us. Both of their goals should’ve been stopped in my opinion.

Anyway, bottom line is we know how things go longer-term. Next year Chavs get organized, with a ridiculous amount of talent and no European competition. Newcastle buys a bunch more talent, City and United buy more talent. Liverpool could be doped by then as well. Where does that leave us and the scum? Battling for 6th place.

I’m against the financial doping. But I’m also pragmatic, and a club not sure of they should spend £40m for Porro while others drop a few hundred overnight is just not going to compete. I wish there was a benevolent dictator approach, and maybe a state fund from a “nicer” country. But the reality is, we have to pay to play.

Do you think City and Chelsea are making their owners money? Chelsea especially given the outlay to buy them.
They'd fiddling the books to beat FFP etc.

It is debt mind , it’s not like they pulled it out of their pocket

The convo was about "risk" not whether it came from their pocket.......

.........Allegedly they don't even take "calculated risks".

.........A 1bn project IS a risk whatever way you slice it.

Even before the physical build started we were already committed regardless of whatever bumps we faced along the way.

Imagine if Covid had hit mid-build....... I mean that's about as Spursy as could possible be.... As it is, it hit in a our first full season at the gaff and dropped a bomb on our initial financial projections.

chelsea is a mad one but these investors are not in it to spunk money for the benefit of chelsea fans are they? why on earth would they do that? they are businessmen who are in it to make a profit.

city seem to be at a stage now where they can balance the books a little, not sure as whos to say the sponsorships are legit? taken them ages to do it but obviously its different for them anyway as they have sports washers as owners.

this boehly is in it long run to make money though, it just looks like he hasnt got a clue and is going to end up as a fucking disaster. its actually quite exciting to watch, hope they all end up majorly fucked.

what am i missing about this boehly bloke if you think hes happy to operate at a loss for the benefit of chelsea? hes an investor and a businessman? his goal is to make money?

The more money dodgy oil states invest in our clubs, the more it reduces the chance of another Lester '16, Liverpool '21 or Arse '23 (?) happening.... No doubt, but to our current dismay they are not impossibilities yet.

........I'd rather follow a game where these things can continue to happen.

I’m with you on that. The best thing for the long term is parity and most of the clubs having a chance. But, that ship sailed. We won’t see that again until all of the clubs are doped up now, unless FFP is strengthened and enforced. There’s just no will to make that happen though.

I genuinely think there comes a point in a billionaires life where they've made their money and their mark and all that is left is to do something fun
Buying a club and playing real life football manager, and maybe getting one over your fellow billionaire rival is probably right up their ego boosting street.

It’s a debt . You think of everything went tits up Tavistock world foot the bill?

The have risked with other people money . Not theirs

but itsnt it a group of investors not just boehly? also why wouldnt you do it with a sport in america if thats the case? from what i understand is they thought they was getting the club at a decent deal because the debt was wiped by abromovich? it was also in the contract that they had to spend a certain amount (put in the contract by abromaovch) this is what a few chelsea fans have told me anyway, not sure how true that actually is but it looks like it might be with what they have been spending.

im not sure billionaires have brains wired up to spend their life chasing money to then just go on a massive splurge at the end of it and truly spunk it. is there any examples of this happening before? i honestly think its just a case of these group of investors pouncing on the ambromoich situation and thinking it was a great opportunity for them to make money. theyve got involved in something they dont understand and its going to come back and seriously hurt them. time will tell....but at the moment that looks likely, they are in big shit next year with FFP with no CL.

Nope, but again that's not what's being argued.

.....or perhaps you're pushing towards the point of view that they should just be wild an irresponsible with the clubs money and future? (which of course you're not.)

Funnily enough, I give infinitely more of a shit about the clubs stability than Lewis's pocket.
