I don't know mate but we could have kept Son.

I am sure he would have accepted club captaincy but reduced playing time.

Frank or whoever made the decision for him to leave grossly underestimated the impact.

When you consider we brought in Muani on loan and what he has offered, it's hard to believe Son would have offered as little.

It's done and many of us probably thought it was an okay decision at the time, but like selling Johnson in the winter window, you must identify a replacement and be certain they offer something in a similar vein.

Next season will be easier as next to no one in this squad does anything that can't be readily replaced, and improved upon.
I think in isolation letting Son move on wasn't a bad decision. He was abysmal in the 2nd half of last season and after the cup win it felt like the timing was right.

However, I do think that it was one of about 20 decisions that, when combined, have got us into this fuckstorm.

Given we already had Odobert as a raw, young wide option we shouldve replaced Son with a legit established player. Instead we bought another raw young wide option in Tel. Might be good in 3 or 4 years time but his loan proved he was absolutely miles off Son's level. Letting Son go and then not properly replacing him was the real issue.

I don't see anyone paying £30m+ for Gallagher, plus the wages he'll want.

I really hope Bergvall and Gray stay, both are the future of this club, but both will have big suitors.
I think quite a few teams will pay it...if not we just loan him out.

They will have suitors but we will be generating shit loads from the other player sales that we can tell them we won't be selling them. Give them a promise that they can leave if we don't come up...think they won't mind much tbh.

Has anybody recently watched Leeds,West Ham,Forest seen their performances and then looked at our team and gone yeah we've got that kind of performance in us? Unless De Zerbi does something drastic with team selection we're fucked. I've seen nothing in our last 14 winless games to suggest we've got anything close to a big battling momentum shifting performance in us.

Thank you!

And don't take offence to this, but this post shows up a huge number of our own fans who've been falling over themselves to exclaim that we're down first, loudest, and most often.

A Frankfurt fan who came onto this board just last season and I would assume has us down as their second team has more passion for this fight than some (a lot!) of our own. Be embarrassed you lot!

If you can't change your tune then how about just stfu for the next 6 games instead?
I'd see your point if we were saying this stuff at the stadium but we're on a football forum, not in the stands. We're just voicing our opinions - what we say on here doesn't impact anything.

I think we're going down and I'm not gonna pretend I don't "to show fight" - that doesn't mean anything on TFC.

If I was at the stadium I'd be backing the team and desperately cheering them on but you can't expect everyone to pretend they think we're staying up on a spurs forum where the whole point is to share your opinion on spurs.

And if you don't like it maybe don't read the forum for 6 games? Or at the very least the thread titled "Relegation".

Experience isn't that important. The best Championship teams in recent times have been Kompanys Burnley, Marescas Leicester, Silvas Fulham, Nunos Wolves, Benitez Newcastle.

None of those managers had Championship experience. If we can keep De Zerbi then his football would suit the division pretty well, especially since we'd be technically the best side in it and the "cup final" for most clubs.

Kompany’s Burnley was the best football I have seen in the championship. Admittedly I only watch the few top teams mostly but it was great.

Not to understand that you need to keep a core of personnel who care about their club is the domain of those who don't appreciate those really essential principles.

Watch Newcastle and Chelsea start to struggle with players who don't care.
Exactly why I’ve never been in a hurry to bin off Ben Davies who still has something to offer and provides an example to the younger mob what a senior pro is supposed to be like!

I agree what's written here doesn't affect the players.

What's written on Twitter and Instagram? More chance of it affecting the players.

Do the opinions here carry over into the matchday crowd and affect the atmosphere there?

More than anything though, I'm just fucking sick of seeing it. I will admit though, in a thread posing the question do you think we'll stay up, it's more appropriate, I lost track of where I was tbh. Although, it's hardly restricted to just this thread is it?

It will be better to watch too. However I think, two things, Parker is more of a sure thing to bring us straight back up, and two, I’m not convinced DZ is staying to manage us in that division.
If De Zerbi does walk (which, even with his absurd contract isn't beyond the realms) I'd go for Parker as he's as close to a sure thing as you'll find.

But right now I'd still choose De Zerbi over him as Parker will be fucked once we come back up whereas De Zerbi can really start to build something, convince some players to stay/join and get us playing decent football.

Parker has played some nice stuff in the past but his Burnley team were uber defensive in the Champ - so many 1-0 wins - and if we're going down I do at least want to enjoy us playing some decent football.

i think it was the right decison for son to leave on high, also kinda right decison tp let brennan johnson go
and i think kudus was the replacement for son
but to let bj go without replacing him is was the biggest problem
and also i dont no if it was a option to terminate the muani loan in january and get someone else in
but yeh It's done and all we can do now is pray and hope that we somehow escape relegation

ps: one small very small hope is that some clubs like chelsea or others get find out and punished for something dogey and get relegated like juve did in 2006

Agreed.

Look at Liverpool for a different kind of comparison.

They moved on/sold/released Arnold, Nunez, Dias and a couple others. They spent a fortune, but no transition of players that always gave their all. Even the maligned Nunez offered effort in abundance but he also understood the Liverpool way

I don't blame the majority of our players. They aren't losing deliberately. It can't be fun but maybe there is no team spirit that bonds them and that's where I do blame Frank, Romero, Van De Ven and arguably Porro.

We have no togetherness. Nothing which binds the group or lanyone who leads them. Frank in particular and Tudor in that short while did not create a never say die spirit of necessity.

So yes, Son may have been terrible as you describe it but he would have been hurting and wanting to put it right. He would have taken responsibility. He would have cared.

What’s you point? That you think we will go down and stay down indefinitely or go bust because the club is poorly run.

I don’t think that will happen .

We shall see.
My point is I don't think it's going to be a fun adventure, people are underestimating the challenge at hand and I don't think the ownership and senior management knows what they're doing.

I'm not saying we will go down and stay down forever but I just don't have faith in those leading our club to steer us through this, and I worry they've fattened us up so much as an asset that we're virtually unsellable especially down there

Yeah fair enough but I think you're gonna be sorely disappointed if you expect everyone on here to be happy clappy when we're sat in 18th and on our worst run of league form since the 1930s. It's only natural some people are gonna say relegation is v.likely given the circumstances. We're really really shit.

Watched the game. Leeds played with desire and without fear.
Something I've yet to see on our survival run in.

It is part of what is concerning me about De Zerbi saying it is too much to get the team playing like he wants from the first day training. I think it is what he should have done. Sunday in all honesty looked like the previous 30 games this season, we were just lucky Sunderland are so shit they only scored once.

It will take a seismic shift, fine margins won’t cut it!

I get what he’s saying as he’s never going to instil his full philosophy in this short a time.

De Zerbi lite is the best we can hope for.
