They WON’T because they’re based on short-term form ; and make no allowance for objective factors like “ changing a manager “
or less definable factors like “ momentum “ and “ belief that we’re going to get out of this quagmire “ .

That’s my issue with OPTA fwiw .

There’s a real world out there for goodness sake .

Snap out of it Brother Sudoku .

Why be “ sad “ Sudoku?

Don’t be “ SAD” ; We CAN DO THIS !

We’re SPURS ; we’re not a computer prediction algorithm that didn’t even exist when we were winning our first trophies .

FFS ; get a grip Sudoku .

WE CAN DO THIS !!!!

And we fckng well will ; OPTA or no f/cking
OPTA ,

Believe otherwise if you wish ; but you’ll be wrong , thankfully.

Agree totally but :

Style is one thing; Points are literally everything right now .

We can keep this going , we’re picking up momentum and hopefully we’ll be out of the quicksand soon .

Believe.
yeh that what i meant
also the pundits said
de zerbi doesn't need to do anything complicated or his "style" of football
best example is richarlison for me today leading the high press and having tel feeding him with crosses
but this game is done and on to the next one
this win only means something if we get points in next games

Win next weekend and I suppose we’d be nearly safe.

Spam are sure to get pumped by the scum, then if we win over Leeds at home we would be on 40 points to their 36 with two to play, AND we may vault Forest as well who could still be on 39 (provided they get nothing away at Stamford Bridge tomorrow. They have Newcastle next week)

Spam aren’t going to beat both Newcastle and Leeds, and even if they did we’d only need one win from Chavs and Everton or a draw to both.

I agree with Opta that we look about 75% to stay up and if we beat Leeds it must rise to 90%. We may even finish 16th.

Real chance now we are safe before the final day, and the only question that day will be between Forest and Spam.

I think I want Nottingham Forest to get to the Europa League final.

In doing so 6th won't get CL and the clamour for that position will fade for Chelsea, Everton etc.

Also means Forest, who are still bang in it with us and West Ham have a final a few days before they play Bournemouth who are chasing that 6th position.

It stuffs Chelsea financially as well no CL, what a fascinating end to the season everywhere you look up and down the table.

It's a really weird one.

Obviously, we don't want to be anywhere near the relegation zone. It's a symptom of how much the club hierarchy have mismanaged us, etc, etc...

And yet, if we escape relegation... it's been a somewhat catalysing end of the season. There's something about this which is bonding the players and fans more than if we'd have just slumped to a shite 15th place finish. Something which is showing De Zerbi's mettle and might just set us up well for next season.

Am I insane? Is there not a silver lining in all of this that it exposes all of our failings in an undeniable way? (spotlight very much on ENIC now)

Just visualise Marinakis lifting that EL trophy. Our EL trophy.

Nah, not for me.

So a couple things about this, firstly it's a misconception that's being widely propagated by our criminally under-read media that 6th place could ever get a champions league spot through league position, UEFA's own website states that in the instance that the Europa League winners qualify for the Champions League through league position, the best ranked club by coefficient in the qualifying phase is elevated automatically into whatever spot the Europa League winners vacated and the qualifying phases are reshuffled accordingly, in this instance Benfica will qualify automatically for next season's league phase if Villa win the EL, England does not get an additional spot.

As well as that, even if they could get CL via 6th there's no way in hell Everton are gonna be in a position to clinch that on the final day when they play us, would require far too many teams to fuck up ahead of them and they very likely will be trying to pick themselves up from 3 defeats on the trot after they play City.

Definitely not insane. You'd like to think that if we escape, then it will really help some of these players kick on next season, combined with RDZ breathing new life into them.

That being said, there's still a few things I want to happen even if we stay up:

1. Romero, Vicario and Porro (and a few others) sold.
2. Vinai and Lange sacked.
3. A thorough and independent review of our injuries and medical department.

Regardless of if we stay or go, this summer is enormous for Spurs. There's a lot to do, especially in a shortened window thanks to the World Cup.

Careful what to wish for..

It's not an easy task to bring in players of this quality, and I am more than willing to see what RdZ can bring out of them in a coached, healthy team.

I also think both Romero and Porro are good fits with his style of play

Totally agree. The stakes are so high that staring relegation in the eye has made us all drop any egos (style of play, team selection, fans booing, etc) and just got everyone behind the team. Every player, coach and fan is just giving 100% and doing whatever they can to help. It's very rare that we are all together. In normal circumstances you'd need to be top of the league and winning every week to have everyone on side like this, and even then you'd still have a few fans booing or wanting us go win by more or hating on one of our players.

It's a total failure how we are in this position. And it'll need to be a summer of change at Spurs regardless. But there is something so unique about the last 2 wins. The stakes are so high. Every game is as big as a cup final. It's turning into one of the more memorable seasons! Like you said, if we'd simply slumped to 15th and no threat of relegation then we'd all be bored complaining about them. The high stakes of relegation has nearly giving us all a thrill we didn't know existed.

Sounds odd but the Romero and Simons injuries might have been a silver lining. Both are top players and would start for far better teams than this current Spurs side. They are 2 players who are just way above battling relegation.

But we aren't in a position to play ball for 90 mins and take advantage of Romero's incredible press resistance passing. And we aren't in a position to give Xavi Simons his preferred 10 position or shoe horn out on the left wing. We need a defender who's taking no risks and playing like his life depends on every block and clearance- Danso! We need a 10 who's going to run and make tackles all game - Gallagher!

Last night we looked like a team with incredible fight who outran and outfought our opponents. Maybe we've accidentally stumbled across the team we need to stay up!

The more I see these positive performances and results without the so-called 'leadership' on the pitch, the more I realise how much previous managers completely misjudged them.

They should have been binned earlier in the season.
