The rabble at Spamalot believe the league is trying to save us and relegate another London club for a benefit to advertising revenue?

If that were the concern why wouldn't they be pushing out Forest, a smaller club outside the capital who were near enough to the cliff for a shove?

Reddit's full of them crying about the offside toe, unironically ignoring a long run of suspiciously wrong VAR calls they've benefitted from all season

Had a Villa fan on a Spurs youtube video after we beat them, claiming they're being held back by the "cabal 6"

I asked him how we, having been stuffed by officials all season long could be somehow holding 5th place Villa back and he vanished.

And really, at this point, if we go down we go down.

All we had to do in the last game was not hand them a fucking goal for free and we'd have been golden, but we couldn't even do that.

It's so fucking draining.

Just get this nightmare season over with.

VAR survives because fans make everything into a miniature tribal grievance rather than understanding that we as fans must join together to take our game back.

We are all trapped in this nightmare together.

Doesn't explain how we are an extreme outlier in penalty and card statistics this season. No other team is even remotely close to us.
The problem is that when something is poorly implemented and inconsistently applied, uneven outcomes are inevitable. And frankly even a perfectly functioning VAR system would produce variation — that's just the nature of it.

Certain clubs have effectively built their entire attacking identity around manufacturing fouls for set pieces and winning penalties and decisions related to contact in the box. Others, ourselves included, create far fewer of those situations going forward and therefore have considerably less to benefit from even a fair system.

As has been said above, we need to stop making this about our own club and instead make the broader argument with one voice — that VAR as currently implemented favours clubs who have made an art form of manipulating their body position to draw contact and embellishing it, and that the whole system needs to be fundamentally rethought or scrapped altogether.

As they always say in Motorsport ; it’s not about beating your opponents, it’s about beating the rule book.

Clubs like the Arse seem to have realised how to push the current rules to the limit;and whilst it isnt pretty they’ve made it work for them . Cynical c-nts .

The anti-football club is the prime villain here but others have seen the result of their success and started doing the same things. The anti-football club is metastasizing.

I am sorry but this is staggering.

We are absolutely being reffed differently, and the Maddison non penalty is another in a long line of decisions we simply are not getting. I have had this feeling for a while, but it all goes back to the Diaz incident against Liverpool and that huge outcry there was.

Up until that point, there was only ever the usual debate about us getting and not getting decisions, but it was no different from other clubs, but ever since then we've been reffed differently. That Diaz incident was a clear turning point. We've been watching it unfold with our own eyes for a few years now, but to see the data says it all.

The club seriously need to have a word with the PGMOL about wtf is going on here. For that Maddison incident to not even go to VAR is unbelievable.

How can it be that every other PL club is grouped fairly close together, and we are the huge outlier.

Do you think there is a limit to their punishment we earned by letting VAR forget to state which action their comment was in relation to? 3 years? 120pts? I mean it was a real 6-pointer of a game. It can't simply be 6 points-worth of punishment, you have to multiply by twenty and round to the nearest oligarch.

I haven't confirmed the data. But if true, that is either evidence of massive bias, or some sort of training/skill/luck deficit in our players. Simplest thing is bias. We've churned enough trainers, players and managers to eliminate the club.

What if our majestic awe-inspiring stadium IS the problem. Hear me out, not the pitch, but the AWESOMENESS. Refs are coming in and feeling like the little guy in a big pond. They are narcissistic twats by nature, so they express themselves through by siding against us. I'm phrasing it in jest, but I'd be interested to see if more of the bias occurs at home or away. Let's be serious here, our home form is fucking shocking, so I think I know the answer.

NOTE: I know we look bad, but that often happens when we start getting bad calls and it compounds.
