Not at all - our maximum NEED is one point, we can get more than that without it being an issue of course, there's no problem with the English there.The other issue is the phrase 'we need a maximum of one point' infers that getting more than one point might have bad consequences if we get more.
That's another reason why I think there are better ways to express the situation in English. But its not a phrase to die in a ditch over
But yes there are probably better ways to express it in English than your original post, and I think we all know the reality irrespective of how we express it, so apologies for raising it and let's all just enjoy having a lot more hope of survival than we had a month ago.
