Anyone know why and when this picture was taken? The presence of Jimmy Greaves dates it as 1970 or earlier and it's clearly not a full strength team. We're using what I assume is a back-up goalkeeper and there is no sign of Kinnear, Chivers or Gilzean.

I'm assuming there is a reason why this picture was taken. It seems odd that it's just a team of 11 players rather than the whole first team squad.

According to one of the replies....

Managed to track this game this down. As I suspected, it was game on the 1969 Tour of North America, specifically against Glasgow Rangers in Toronto which we won 4-3. Team was Hancock; Want and Knowles; Perryman, Evans and Beal; Johnson, Greaves (C), Pearce, Pratt and Morgan. Thanks to Bob Goodwin's THFC Complete Record.

Sounds like the commercial pre-season touring was happening even then.

I remember standing on an open terrace, at the East end of Coventry's old Highfield Road ground, in the Spurs end, for a League Cup tie in December 1991. Spurs won it with Paul Allen scoring a brilliant goal. I think it finished 1-2. The other thing I remember was Fenwick having an absolute mare, one of many, and the bloke standing in front of me shouting at Terry Venables to replace Fenwick with a dustbin.

Still makes me laugh 33 years later.
