Management Roberto De Zerbi

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Vic just wanting to be in the limelight as well, in case fans forgot about him.
Yeah, it did feel like that all afternoon, what with him kicking off at Coleman before the game, attempting to coach during it etc but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
I still want him gone but I do think he's quite passionate about the game and the club, to be fair to him.

Compare him and Madders during that game to Romero, who even at the end didn't really look like he gave much of a fuck.

Also, people have been giving Porro a lot of shit recently but he was the Porro of old yesterday.
Fight, passion and played well too.
Spence also.
We've got a lot of players to shift but a few yesterday have made me reconsider.

That's not what happened though. He had his family in italy the whole time and only ever does 2 seasons at a club before losing his shit. He's now walking away from Napoli after the same amount of time.

Reality is that we were at our best under Conte when he wasn't playing the Conte way and was carrying the momentum of a team that was still very much Poch/Mourinho. That summer, he changed the way we play and we regressed. Having a key coach die and some of this mates didn't help his attitude, but I don't think Conte loses interest so much - I think he drops a grenade before he introspects
Yeah, while there are some similarities I think Conte is more volatile. Even when he's doing well in his first season at clubs he's usually throwing shade and sewing seeds of discontent.

De Zerbi's passionate and clearly combustible when things aren't going well, but he's not gonna have many better projects than this now that he's kept us up. Mega paycheck, lots of control and pretty low fan expectations after 2 years of abject shite.

The Marseille gig was non-stop drama and gave me some concerns, but I'm starting to wonder if Marseille is simply a much bigger basketcase than even Spurs so it's hard to make direct parrellels.

Best thing we can do is just give him some control and let him cook. He's bloody earned it. Think we can probably get at least 2 seasons out of him if we don't dick him around.

I don't think there's a stronger way for a manager to bond with players he's just taken over than to get them though something like that.

That's a super intense thing to go through.

Special relationship already established - trust, faith, belief.

Huge.

Yesterday did seem like a big moment for the club, not just survival but with the manager, certain players and the fans too.
This season will make us stronger and better and I honestly believe we'll be a completely different side next season.

They're on their 7th permanent manager in 5 years, which has included Igor Tudor, so more to it. I recall Tudor said he was "tired" of the club when he quit after a season

Yeah it's proper mental. Their ultras are like nothing we have in english football and the pressure on managers is nuts. Add in them selling half the squad every year...not an easy gig.

Think either Tudor or De Zerbi said 1 year there feels like 3-4 years at other clubs.

The Frank wins where also at the start of his reign so the trajectory was even worse.
Yeah after that initial new manager bounce we were in relegation form from October onwards.

Almost impressive how quickly Frank lost the dressing room tbh.

Not to mention the squad Frank had over that period was less injury-riddled than the one De Zerbi was working with. Far more attacking options.

His whole plan was Porro kick the ball to Kudus and Kudus run with it.

Every presser I'm seeing from RDZ is 100% gold

He's the man for us for sure. Whether the wankers at the top back him remains to be seen though. We need to spend like ever never spent before this summer, and make some painful decisions on letting players go. No room for sentimentality.
