Management Roberto De Zerbi

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

What would concern me is this is exactly what we thought with Conte. One shit summer window later when clearly promises hadnt been kept then he'd lost interest. Both volatile Italians that expect high standards not being palmed off with make do and mend squad fodder.

I guess when we had Conte it was hard to go from 4th upwards, with De Zerbi we can only really go one way.

Thank you, Roberto.

The one decision the Board got right this season.
We would have been relegated with a bang without him!

The transformation was remarkable, we were as dead as can be when he came in. And i didn't see this coming!

By all reports on the nature of his contract, he's got significant power to shape what he wants.

Now this will bolster that even further.

Very, very strong position.
A good thing, but my concern is whether he's given the budget. He may have control over WHO we get, but if he's restricted by a weak budget?

We're united behind RDZ, we can only hope the board see this and feel the same.

I think he might not include Romero after the Argentina thing. He did refer to "people" as in their character too. Romero may have already said he wants out.
He did go out of his way to mention guys that didn't or barely played like Davies and Dragusin. No mention of the captain in that section.

You have to imagine he will have made his mind up about Romero. Either he'll see him as a key player to build around or bomb him out ASAP.

Loved his statement after full time.

He surprised me with how he was willing to adjust to the limitations of what was available to get us over the line, but it was still ultimately 11 points in 8 games.

We’ve also got to contextualise those 3 wins.

After all of the division we've seen in the fan base over the last few years, we appear to finally have someone that we can all unite behind.

Our board needs to be receiving a barrage of communication from us fans, DEMANDING that they back him with the recruitment needs to put us back up there challenging for top honours. Not just CL qualification, top honours.

We've got a taste of it from last season, we've just had a taste of the other end of the spectrum.

Never again should we be in this situation.

That's not what happened though. He had his family in italy the whole time and only ever does 2 seasons at a club before losing his shit. He's now walking away from Napoli after the same amount of time.

Reality is that we were at our best under Conte when he wasn't playing the Conte way and was carrying the momentum of a team that was still very much Poch/Mourinho. That summer, he changed the way we play and we regressed. Having a key coach die and some of this mates didn't help his attitude, but I don't think Conte loses interest so much - I think he drops a grenade before he introspects

I’m hoping this clusterfuck of a season and being so very close to relegation has given these bozos a serious reality check!

They must have been extremely concerned the last few weeks that relegation was a very serious possibility.

It's a logical argument but it becomes subjective I suppose.
I would break it down by positions and say 2 for each position and some youthful 3rd choice fillers..

ST - Expect Solanke to stay and 1 marque signing needed.
LW - I don't rate any of our LWs. Perhaps Moore as a 3rd choice but I think we need 2.
RW - Kulusevski and Kudus. Cool, I can live with them but there are huge question marks around their fitness. I think we need to bring one in.
CAM - Maddison and Xavi. We know Xavi will miss most the season, so we should bring one in, or move Kulu there and bring in a RW.

Then you have a 2-3 youth prospects around the squad as 3rd choice for the positions. Moore, Odobert and Tel are the same position, so I'm taking Moore and binning the other 2.
Let's not be shocked to see Lankshear, Yang and possibly Odobert playing on permanent contracts for lower division clubs within 1-2 seasons.

Whatever way I look at it, I believe we need 4-5 senior players of a high level coming in as an absolute minimum for the attacking positions.
Then we need a GK, LB, CB and although we seem to be collecting them - we do actually need a good CM. Got plenty of below par CMs that will be hard to shift now so expect little movement there.

Yea, then I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

I mean there will be injuries for sure - Xavis one is already there... But what do you do with 3 players for each position when you have EPL, FA and EFL cups to play for?

Realistically - when you say we need 4-5 players then you will get 5 players like Odobert. I do not know what do you achieve with that.

I would much rather get in 2 top level players. A staring ST an starting LW. Backed by likes of Kudus, Kulusevski, Madders, Moore, Solanke and Odobert/Tel.

Saying that - okay, yea, after "new starting LW" + Kudus the drop would be quite significant. Then maybe one more winger. But even then we land on 3 players. Not 4 or 5.
