Roberto Soldado

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Couldn't disagree more.

Leadership especially. He's a leader on the pitch, he fights for his team mates, i remember one game last season, there was a bad tackle on someone, Soldado was straight over to the ref, and afterwards, i think gave a sneaky little elbow on the guy that did the bad tackle.
But his overall play is fine. He can hold up the ball and all that, just doesnt seem to get on the end of many chances, and when he does, he fucks it up.

I don't see the positive effect he has had on young players around him like Townsend, Eriksen, Lamela, Holtby etc. If anything he cut a forlorn frustrated figure on the pitch. The opposite. Everything bounced off him and he didn't coordinate our attack force. He didn't gel with any of our players. Wasn't it Paulinho and Ade who set him up for his prem goals in open play? I can't remember the other goals off top of my head. Even Kane didn't strike up a great partnership with him and we were better off with Soldado on the bench.

Shouting and looking hard is not leadership. Remembering one game from last season is reaching. If you couldn't disagree more, and you come up with "I think he did one sneaky elbow" from one game...Thats not exactly a compelling reason for your maxed out level of incredulous disagreement.

It can be argued that his lack of finishing may have ended Lennon and Townsends careers at Spurs. Since prem assists and goals are an important aspect how many wingers are measured. Linking up once or twice a season to create a prem goal is diabolical.

Got a weird feeling about Soldado.... he does score in the Europa and he might be a good influence on the kids in that competition when we're playing shit from the peripheries of the continent.

If it weren't for Ade being such a cunt I would be furious we still have this joker on our books. Complete waster. Could give a fuck he is a "nice bloke who tries" he has been an utter disaster for us

His influence was negative on the young players around him. Eriksen, Holtby, Townsend and Lamela had major confidence crisis with him up front to aim for. Are you SURE you want to risk their development with Soldado? Are you sure you want to risk the potential Alli has? It could really mess up other players like Bentaleb, Dembele and Mason if they keep putting through balls for someone who is either not there, is muscled off or chokes?

IMO he is a liability and it's best for HIM to leave. He's miserable in this league.

Gibbs, what make is you say he was a negative influence? Not trying to get a rise I'm genuinely interested.

Why does it have to be a rise? Don't worry about the get along gang who ask me a question then try and bait me into arguments. You can ask ole Gibbsy anything.

Imagine being a young emerging winger and over the course of a season you put a over a 100 combined through balls, crosses, passes in the final third and the guy you are supplying does not put one in?

Not one goal. You finish the season with zero Prem assists and you are a winger.

Thats the negative. IMO the lack of assists our midfield get, are negatively influenced by Soldado's lack of physical, mental and poor execution.

I don't want Alli to jink through the midfield, supply Soldado only to watch his hard work get put into row z. A few times is fine. 8 months of it? It can ruin a player.

Thats bullshit Gibbsy:

Think he means that when the likes Eriksen,Lamela,Townsed play with Soldado, Soldado being bad makes them look bad as well which affects their confidence.

Yep. It's not just playing bad. He also compounds their own issues: I love Eriksen and Lamela. But they are light weight. Having another light weight in there helps weaken the spine as well as our flanks. So every angle you look at it (apart from off the pitch friendship) they are getting a bad deal. They need a powerhouse next to them to help balance the team. Or at least someone much quicker.

So what? Soldado's lack of finishing their midfield build up helps young players confidence?

Physically he is a bad fit for the prem. I saw Holtby get so frustrated, he was slamming his fist into the turf after dozens of attempts of us bouncing off the parked bus. We need a target and a leader for the kids on the pitch in the final third and behind them.

Ah okay. I was thinking you meant in the dressing room. I'm not sure about negative influence but could see that as disheartening.

I can't believe that people still defend this guy and don't want him gone. He is finished. He's just a shit Torres
