To be fair he probably knew zero sum abut JWP and his delivery. So cutting him some tiny sized slack
Dreading to think who the other 2 midfielders are with Skipp out.
Doesn't matter, Bentancur with Winks and Hojbjerg can do a job in a 3.
Winks and Hojbjerg in a 2 man midfield is our worst pairing by a distance.
Still very underwhelming for a team like Spurs - almost an insult to the fans to start Winks AND Hojbjerg in midfield.
Bentancur, Skipp and Bissouma and we might go somewhere though.

I want both PEH and Winks to get a rest. At very least.
Also the 3-4-3 formation simply doesn't work for us. Entire midfield structure might need a rework.

Seriously, he looked very composed and assured on the ball, and made an immediate improvement when he came on. As most have mentioned, I think he will make a good partnership with Skippy, who has been missed.

It's quality of individual that drives the need for 3 CMs anyway.
In that respect; Bentancur/PEH/Winks is a better MF than B'cur + PEH or Winks.
Skipp won't be out for much longer anyway; then hopefully the following can succeed and take root:

I no longer get what the 23 squad/development is for. If we have no young alternatives to players as poor at the basics as Hojbjerg and Emerson we should just scrap it.

We really should be able to defend crosses from there. I can understand closing JWP down though because of his ability and that’s something Bentancur would have to learn from being in the league.
His next cross made up for it.
i prefer to think the execution was off, not the decision making nor intelligence, if the cross was perfect there were two players there .... i will grant you Kane was in a good position too.....
I think hojberg bentancur can be fine against sides that don't press much. Winks really can only function in a 3 man midfield, because his presence essentially makes it a 2 man midfield in defence.
Skipp bentancur is obviously our strongest right now.
What needs to ideally be done is replace Winks with JWP in the summer. Helps with home grown, but immediately strengthens us. Then we can focus on bringing a marauding RWB and bolstering our CB.
