But apart from that, I stand by what I wrote. He truly is a very, very good player who would instantly improve our team x-fold.

I bet he's one of the very first names on Carlo's teamsheet week in week out.

No way we're getting him anyway so...

Aren't these kind of comments more than a bit played out now considering it's not uncommon for us to spend 40 -60m on a player these days?

....It's much like saying "Yeh, we'll flog X for a big profit, the first chance we get" even though any player that gets cited has themselves agitated for the move to a bigger club against our desires to keep them.

He was very good under Sarri, then underwhelming under Pirlo and horrible under Allegri. I didn't think he'd get back to his Sarri levels back when we were on the verge of signing him (I thought Deki had so much potential but Bentancur looked a pointless signing to me), but boy oh boy could I have been any more wrong. He's been incredible for us.

Was very good and looked like he was going to be a top player around 4yrs ago.. then tapered off. Tbh, think he's the one player in our squad in whom you can really see the quite marked effects of Ventrone pre-season running. His driving forward with the ball and bursts of acceleration to intercept loose balls has definitely reached a new level. I guess fitness work and being coached by an incredibly competitive Conte had rubbed off on him a lot.
