Not better as a footballer but I don't think Bentancur has offered us anymore, whether that is down to the respective managers or whatever.

I don't think there is barely any of our players who one can say is categorically of serious quality, even by comparison to other players.

People see players in the wrong prism.

So called talent is an irrelevance if it is not incorporated within a system of play that gets the most out of the asset.

It's like saying well we are better midfield than Winks Sissoko...we are 14th lol. We have lost more games than in their entire tenure. If this is what better looks like it's Fugly.

You don't think Bentancur has offered us anymore, well really? Because this fanbase was creaming at the fact that we had upgraded our midfield especially when we got top 4 and the season before he picked up his long term injury, Sissoko could only dream of hitting those levels.

You guys are just doing way too much because of the current state that we're in, our players are playing well below par right now but we all have eyes and a brain and memories...Sissoko was a pile of steaming wank who struggled to control a football and and you're all just misty eyed because you are looking back on the old times under Poch when things were generally good because you're desperate for something to cling onto...you're not comparing players, what you're guilty of is comparing the feeling.
 
Being realistic we cannot continue to sell or let go of the majority our established senior players, even if we are seeing them underperform this season. Bentancur, whilst not being at the levels we know he has previously hit, shouldn't be sold on the basis that we have a squad of babies at the moment that still need support from senior pros. As others have said, it's got to be Bissouma out before Bentancur really.

Bissouma before anyone as far as I am concerned. A nothing player.

I don't look at many of our players and see example to follow, and certainly none exemplify leader. Not one.

Not really, we do have better midfielders now than when Winks and Sissoko were almost literally our only cms.

But the forwards are worse, and the defenders are worse, so you can't really judge any individual position based on our league position.

Difficult to really tell how much better or worse the players actually are until we have a professional managing them.

Winks, yes. Sissoko was never championship level. The guy was key to a Euros final run for one of the most talented squads in the world. He was also very good when we got to the CL final (made CL squad of the season) and good that season overall. Won legends player of the season.

I was never huge on him - technically deficient 100%, but he was flexible, unbelievable engine and athlete and Poch made good use of what he was. He remained in and around that fantastic French squad for years.

IMO Sissoko was overhated by fans and Bentancur overrated. He won leagues at Juve but they let him go for peanuts for a reason. He had 6 top months with us and a couple of good months here or there but otherwise he’s just been such a basic, unexceptional centre mid.

I think it’s close tbh and find it weird people are so outraged by thinking otherwise. Bentancur has never been anything above mediocrity.

Winks is well below both - zero athleticism or attributes that would make him stand out. Nice and tidy midfielder.

The real problem is that his contract is up next summer. You want to give him a new 5 year deal?

I'd rate prime Bentancur well ahead of prime Sissoko.

Nope, he should be sold because he's been utterly shit since his injury. Keeping dross like Bentancur and Bissouma is fucking stupid.
