You need a license to manage a soccer team?
Yes. At the very least to be the one in charge. In England it is called coaching badges.

Ledley started to take his whilst working in our youth setup when he retired. But dropped it fairly quickly because he felt that he would not make a good manager, or managing wasn't for him or something like that.

Ryan completed his when he was our U18 coach before he got his current player development job.

Clearly hasn’t got a future in management then has he?
Oh give him a break. Imagine trying to coach this nuclear hazard site of a dressing room, especially when you've got personal relationships with some of these guys.

Mason was hired to make the calendar turn over to May 24th, and barring any interstellar hijinks he is succeeding on that basis.

Why on earth the club would make this appointment is another question entirely.

This. Mason was hired to get us to the end of the line and to be a feel good puppet figure.

In hindsight we should have gotten someone like Rafa in on interim who could actually commandeer the dressing room. But hindsight is always 20/20.

Mason does not deserve personal attacks because of this.

I am actually concerned his primary role at the club is in youth development.

He's like one of those coaches that picks the lad who he thinks is a nice kid, bit of a trier who won't let him down. Meanwhile the talented, footballer with the actual skills sits on the bench because he's a bit flashy or doesn't run as much. Or perhaps has a bit of an attitude or heaven forbid a personality of some kind.

If his managerial selections reflect his approach to developing young players then i'm not too keen on him being involved in the Academy either.

He is putting his mates ahead of the club and supporters. He is then going to head back to the academy and set a very important guideline of what it takes to play for Spurs.

I have no idea what point he is trying to prove by sticking to his designated line up at all costs but he is ruining his managerial career before it has even started. And for what? To keep his mates and Levy happy?

The fans aren't blind.

Don't get the hate for him.

He's 29 and been asked to manage one of the biggest clubs in football. Of course he says yes.

If he picks his mates or the Lollypop Kids from the Wizard of Oz, that isn't on him. It's on Levy.

He's doing his best. He's obviously not trying to harm the club.

A company stooge is what he looks like. Just doing his master's bidding. The worst manager in our recent history, the most defensive, negative footballing dinosaur imaginable was playing Ndombele ahead of Winks. Yet, Ryan puts his little buddy in ahead of Tanguy immediately.

That fucking stinks. It's a bitch move and it's likely that Tanguy has called him on it and got the cold shoulder ever since.

Mason's basically the managerial equivalent of Winks. A nice lad, proper Spurs, been here since he was 8 etc. And fucking 2nd rate but let's ignore that part.

all hes done is prove that hes soft and incompetent. hes either picking his mates or hes clueless, doesnt matter what it is, its a clear indicator hes no where near good enough to be a manager. i wouldnt even want someone like that putting the cones out.

hes picking winks and dele over ndombele, that alone says all you need to know about this bloke. even if youre that much of a gimp to have harry winks as your best mate, picking him over ndombele in competitive games of football and CUP FINALS, tells the world youre far from conscientious, in fact it tells us youre actually a fucking joke.
