Management Ryan Mason

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I don't think that's the case at all mate.

Mason loves the club, when asked about Kane leaving at the end of the game he was unhappy and basically said the club will still be here in 40 years, with or without him.

I think he picks teams based on players who have a deeper connection to the club in hopes it will make them fight for the badge more.

I think that's the extent of it, it's foolish and naive but it's not for selfish reasons or to give his mates a run around.

None of what is happening is down to Mason, he's just another victim of poor planning at the football club.

People throwing around "Masons Mates" in relation to Skipp, Lucas & PEH just show it up for the bullshit it is.....

He never played with any of them.

I mean the game as a whole was very watchable from a neutral perspective. I'm thankful for that. But our defense cannot survive any pressure at all, it's no wonder Conte was trying to shut everything down.

Yeh, I added comment about the back 4 to my post, but seen the exact same pattern play out under Conte even with 3CBs..... Ony we'd have sat back after Kane scored.

I'm not going to defend the way things played out under Conte this season regardless of where the culpability lies, but it must be said, had we held on in Conte's last game we'd have gone 3rd.

We've shipped 20 goals in 9 games since and sit 8th.

We’ve got much worse since sacking him.

Since Conte tore in to these players, they’ve spent every single game since proving him entirely correct about his rant.

He's also been proven correct about so much shit people were desperate to see .. a 4, Richarlison starting, kulu starting, danjuma getting a start, going a bit more offensive ... it's all been terrible. Because these players are mid-table quality apart from a great CF + Son who looks wiped.

"Mason's Mates" is a red herring, because you're right, he didn't play with Lucas. It's really just "Mason's Clueless Personnel Decisions", where his baffling decision to keep using Winks in his first go-round has been replaced by his baffling decision to keep putting Lucas on this time.

Using Winks > NDombele resulted in 4/6 wins.

Decision vindicated.

I like Mason and he seems like a bright guy but this job is obviously way too soon for him.

I would like to see him learn the ropes at a Championship/League One club, get some experience, learn new things and maybe in several years come back here and get a position somewhere.

He isn't the answer but his promotion this year is emblematic of the wider mismanagement on the pitch over the past several years.

He might get the chance this time next year.

Thanks for the micro-rant, but that's nothing to do with what I said.

That wasn't a 'rant' at all. Good god.

And it's the Ryan Mason thread and I addressed decisions Ryan Mason has made. Also, 4/6 wins given the level of some of those fixtures sounds more impressive than it was. He did an OK job stabilising back then, and hasn't replicated that.

So time to go to a club where he's not just a convenient club man to put in place.

I suspect it would be more accurate to say that using Winks correlated with 4 wins, because I am not sure Winks was an important cause of those victories. But that may be too pessimistic, and I admit I might be wrong here. Neither player has done very much to prove they deserve minutes in the Premier League since leaving Spurs.

I am quite certain, though, that Lucas played a direct causal role in at least one loss.

Sure, but I dont' think there's a single person that will claim that he his decision making is beyond reproach.

Nothing he's done has worked in round 2.

Get him off the coaching staff and let him go find his feet elsewhere instead of being Levy's go to man at the club for when it blows up again, it's all a bit pathetic.

Yeah he needs to go as well, if he thinks he can handle the spurs managers job then go and find a managers job elsewhere. No point having him lurk in the background waiting for his next stint as interim.

I genuinely quite like him & think he probably does have something going for him as a coach, but being here and learning from the type of managers we've had and the chaos that we epitomise & just being a convenient bloke at the club to put in charge because he won't rock the apple cart can't be doing anything for his development.

Go out, find some role in the football world, go from there. Maybe in x amount of years he can return ready for Spurs, or maybe he'll prove to not be suited to the management game at all. We just have no idea yet.

Hense "micro" (perhaps "minor" would be more appropriate)...... Point being; there's no correlation between my last few posts and a need for you to tag me with those comments (you're not offering up some kind of counter-point to what I"ve said).

Also, 4/6 wins given the level of some of those fixtures sounds more impressive than it was. He did an OK job stabilising back then

I'd not claimed anything more grand than that.

and hasn't replicated that.

No, he hasn't..... If you read you will see that I made no defense (or any comment) of his 'output' this season.
