United haven't built anything. The owners have spent a fortune on random big-name players to try and placate the fans. Didn't work, you still hear Glazers Out chants.
Yeah I don't think they are all that tbh. They threw money at it.

They are still only 3rd in the league which is a fairly piss poor league this season with City off the boil, Liverpool and Chelsea nowhere to be seen. So they are there by default really.

All of this hype for Ten Haag is incredibly premature, talks of dynasties and shit. Just the big club loving media doing what they do.

The bit highlighted is rubbish.

Yes the game was 'harder' and pitches worse, but the athleticism required then was pretty much what you or I could probably do - have 6 pints the evening and stodgy pub food before the match and trundle round the pitch doing maybe 3 or 4 kms.

And its the athleticism required today that means players need more rest (as well as almost zero drinking and smoking, better dies etc) .... and why playing the best X1 every match stopped being the right answer maybe 20 years ago
The players back in the day were still mostly fit with the odd exception. But yeah they were all drinking so it was more of an amateur level fitness as opposed to the sports science now.

I preferred the football back then I have to say but that's by the by.

wrong, I'm talking the 1970's not 1870's

Yes football is much better for the increased fitness they have now, because they play on snooker table level pitches.
There might have been a few like Greaves, but as I said, he was a different dimension of player - the rest had to train hard and work hard.

Neither did I say that rotating players was unnecessary, when players got knock or were playing through pain they got rested even back then.

My point was that the onus was on getting the best side out and not disrupting the training and match experience of playing alongside the same players - if they could do it then, then the super fit players we have now should be even more capable of playing more than one game a week. We rotate now to mitigate against injuries to our best players and it's a good policy - but it shouldn't be something we HAVE to do with modern fitness and training methods.

Hope we give Kane a rest and play Richarlison through the middle. Give Sarr, Porro and Danjuma gametime and get them up to speed. Agree we have to win this game, but playing the same eleven every 4 days isn't the answer. We played Kulusevski, Son and Kane vs Middleborough last yr, didn't score and lost the game.

With Eric Dier missing the Milan game, maybe play him RCB and whoever is to play ccb vs Milan should get 90mins playing that role tonight as well.

So you think we should swap the positions of Dier and Sanchez tonight?

I think there's a chance that for the AC Milan game Romero moves central and Sanchez plays on the right.

62k at home every match for two trophies since 1991. Every away game way over subscribed. Ridiculously loyal support.

That's much is not in question.... Although we haven't had 62k for the vast majority of that last 25 years (nor 32 years seeing as you're now dating things back to 91).

I guess my point its I've enjoyed much of my time on the terraces over that period. To effectively write it off as trash just doesn't sit well......

Would really like to see Porro, Sarr & Danjuma start and ideally Richie given a run out as central striker meaning Kane gets a bit of a rest. Beyond that I think go with strongest line up.
I wouldn’t start Porro he was a defensive liability when he started for us before, he needs to be eased in when we are in safer positions in games. I’d like to see him play but don’t trust him to start yet. Otherwise i agree.

Really looking forward to tonight I think it will be end to end with Sheffield winning 2-1,how do you feel it will go? Stay away from swillsborough though the bankers draft is a great pub in the city centre along with Dempseys and the cossack the bankers is a blades pub but friendly to away fans the other 2 are Wednesday pubs.

Anyway enjoy your visit to stabby bramall lane.
