There's so much doom and gloom on here recently, that I thought I would pick up the mood a tad, by posting some extracts from a couple of books I got for my birthday.
For starters:
" I prefer players not to be too good or too clever at other things, it means they can concentrate on football".
- Bill Nicholson
"When a player had the ball and didn't know what to do with it, he'd say 'the birds are flapping in your head' "
- Ledley King on Martin Jol talking double Dutch
"A man capable of breaking both leg and wind at the same time"
- Jimmy Greaves on Paul Gascoigne
"It would be great to have in in my (Brazil) team, but he was born in Wales"
- Sandro on Gareth Bale
Jermain (Defoe) is only five foot tall but he was about eight foot before the game"
- Robbie Keane looks up to his team mate
