Is it even worth us turning up for the away game v Dippers?

Premier League rule could see Tottenham vs Liverpool replayed after VAR blunder

The furious Reds have not demanded the game take place again after officials' howler saw Luis Diaz's goal ruled out, but the Premier League's own rules state such a decision is possible

The Premier League could decide to replay Tottenham Hotspur’s game with Liverpool - if an appointed commission rules that the match officials breached the Laws of the game when it came to ruling out Luis Diaz’s goal.
Audio of the incident will be released soon by referees’ body PGMOL, who are striving to be as transparent as possible following Saturday evening's embarrassing howler, but only after Liverpool have been allowed to assess what communication took place between the ref Simon Hooper, the VAR Darren England and his assistant Dan Cook.
Both England and Cook have been sidelined by PGMOL but Hooper acted as fourth official in Monday night’s game between Fulham and Chelsea, indicating that he has been exonerated from blame.
The Reds have not called for the game to be replayed but a carefully-worded statement said they would “explore the range of options available, given the clear need for escalation and resolution.”
That, according to experts, suggests they have already sought legal advice and should they end up lobbying for the match to be replayed after digesting the audio, there is a pathway for that to happen.
Stephen Taylor Heath, co-head of Sports Law at JMW Solicitors, told Mirror Football: “Rule L18 outlines that the Premier League board has the power to order a league match to be replayed provided that recommendation to that effect has been made by a commission under rule W51.
“In addition to this, under rule W1, the Premier League’s board has the power to inquire about any suspected breach of rules, including those made by a match official, while rule N4 ensures that each match official agrees to be bound by the laws of the game as well as any protocols and FA rules.
I thought it was widely decided that this wouldn't happen
I've a feeling that the 'compromise' to this will be that we are 'advised' to allow them to walk the ball into the net when we kick off at Anfield, and start the game 0-1 down...

It will effectively make the away game the replay!

I can almost see it happening...

They can fuck right off

Have a replay it’s only fair . Must be fair to both sides though. Start the game 11 players for Spurs v 9 players for Liverpool. Give us 2 goals that we finished with. Give Liverpool 1 goal that they finished with plus the 1 disallowed goal. We start at 2-2. How could they argue with that?
Behave.
It sets a precedent that every game that that there has been wrong doing gets replayed. Who's to say if every wronged side had heard the audio of their particular gripe,it wouldn't have been as big a cluster fuck. Sort the VAR team out yes, insist of certain code words ,yes,so no further mistakes. "Positive decision"=goal, "negative decision"=no goal.
I expectected this suggestion from them, but from one of our own?
There are a hell of a lot of sides deserve replays if they get one. When will they all be replayed?

Tried to explain this to a Dipper who was way to thick to process it. It's human error and its of the most basic kind of human error where protocols exist and are followed but simple linguistic parameters have not been properly established. Oddly and far more seriously it reminded me if the shooting of Jean Charles Demeniezes. Gold command under the useless Cressida Dick made just this kind of mistake and it cost a life. I know it pales in comparison with failing to award Liverpool a goal mind you.
Akin to following an SOP, and getting nonsense out as a result.

That’s why SOPs get revised periodically or when found the be “wanting”.

TalkSport still going on about it this morning... 4 days after the event!

It would ALMOST (almost, but not quite) be worth having a decision go against US in the near future, JUST to see how long after the final whistle the media and whole football world were STILL talking about it... 2, 3, 4 days maybe...?

My guess is 6-7 minutes, then they'd go to the break, and not mention it again!

Hint, how long did anyone dwell on the CL final sissoko handball decision ?

No time at all, everyone behaved like Liverpool just won what was rightfully theirs. The things bigger clubs get away with is ridiculous, Levy will probably sue them into oblivion if they ever start formal proceedings into this beyond the media circus.

I agree, the offside rule as it is needs changed. But it can't be changed midseason, and certainly not because the Scousers are whining.
They changed the fucking handball rule mid-season a few years ago, the year that we lost at home to Newcastle to a dodgy pen for "handball" against Dier...

Funny how we were never manking and moaning about a replay for that.

Is this going to be the longest match thread of all time?

Will we still be talking about it come the international break?

If so expect a 1000+ page thread and multiple cunt offs and sending offs. Can’t wait.

Glorious.

Green and red. A buzzer or a bell. Anything really

Keep going back to goal line technology, needed to be tested 100% before it was allowed while VAR is a mess making it up as they go along
Speaking of which, did Huddersfield get a replay when their equaliser was wrongly ruled out?

No, I thought not.

Radio comms would suggest ‘golf’ and ‘November’ for goal and no goal respectively. Clearly clarity of comms is an issue, but no mistaking the radio alphabet.
They should use morse code for “goal” and “no goal” to avoid confusion:

--. --- .- .-..

-. --- / --. --- .- .-..

Followed by “well done boys, good process” of course:

.-- . .-.. .-.. / -.. --- -. . / -... --- -.-- ... --..-- / --. --- --- -.. / .--. .-. --- -.-. . ... ...

It's now Wednesday. We're 4 days on from the fixture.

TalkSport is still making it their main talking point of the morning.

I suppose this is the first ever incorrectly disallowed goal in 150-odd years of football, mind so there is that.
