Player Spurs Youth 24/25 (including younger players loaned out)

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Our Youth Loans Manager, Andy Scoulding, is going to have a lot of work to do this summer with up to around 15 or 16 youth loans to organise with various clubs.

I'd guess many of the loans will only happen after Ange has had a chance to see the youngsters in first couple of pre-season games against Hearts and QPR - although he will have had a sneak preview from the Newcastle in Melbourne game.

Agreed but a bit ironic that we now have Dane Scarlett, Jamie Donley, Luca Gunter, Alfie Dorrington, Mikey Moore and Tyrese Hall coming through reinforced with over 16 recruitment of Troy Parrott, Alfie Devine, Ashley Phillips, Yago de Santiago and Will Lankshear. But certainly would be good to get more top youngsters into Spurs academy at early stages.

Our most immediate issue is to try to bring through some of the youngsters through the ages 18 to 21 and into the first team whether via loans and/or direct first team involvement which we've had almost 100% failure rate since Kane, Townsend, Mason, Bentaleb et al a decade ago (honorary exception being Skipp). Currently I guess the responsibility rests with Ange (first team manager) and Andy Scoulding (Loans manager) amongst others.

Of passing interest to our plan of improving recruitment of u16 players, Brentford are re-opening their academy which they closed in 2016, reopened as a Cat 4 academy in 2022 and want to jump to a Cat 2 academy this year and jump again to a Cat 1 academy after that.

Recruitment in London is tough already with competition not only from Woolwich, Chelsea, other London clubs but also from both Mancs who recruit heavily in London as do other clubs such as Southampton. So we will have to up our game in academy in every aspect
