He was their best player over 2 legs vs us.The Dane said:Mkhitaryan is probably leaving this summer, if we could get him it would be amazing
Batra, Umtiti
Mkhitaryan, Schurrle, Wanyama, Witsel, Mata, Ritchie, Kovacic
Batsuyashi, Lacazette, Embolo, Zlatan, Wilson, Deeney, Griezmann.
All the players we've been linked with so far, who do you all think we'll end up with?
This is a slightly more complete list, courtesy of reddit:You need to read more red tops if you think that's a complete list![]()
Hugo is a great keeper. But as you rightly point out, he does get an easy ride when it all goes brainfart mode. I hope he has a tremendous euros & comes back even better. Love him, but he isn't exempt from criticism. And as the captain, he should be hitting his prime now.He has been heralded for all the world class saves. My point was he hasn't been criticised much for his errors.
Yes, he's a top class keeper, but I can still admit he has weak points. My pants go each time he comes for a cross and when he has to kick under pressure.
To be fair, people are quick to cunt someone else on our team for not being in the correct position and making the same error again which costs a goal, i.e., Walker, but when it comes to Hugo fucking up a cross and doing the same thing, again, nobody does.
Let's be honest, Hugo is weak in the air/commanding his box

You guys seriously think that the club (Levy, Poch, Mitchell, et al) intentionally wait until the last minute? You think they don't know the benefits of wrapping up business early? But for the majority of the players we're looking at, we're not exactly their top destination. We can get a Fazio done early, but when it comes to a Batshuyai, a Jansen, or an Embolo, think again. These players and their teams are going to hold out as long as it takes to get the best fee and the best wages and there's zilch we can do about it, unless we start offering silly money and Manure, City, or Chelski we ain't.Never see the point of that nonsense, we have 3 months to sort deals into place. What value is there in leaving it to the final day, hours, minutes. Just to save a few £££ here and there.
Surely get players in as early as possible and integrated into the squad and training methods means we're better placed to start well, rather than playing catch up all season.

So get real here and stop deluding yourselves that getting transfers done early is in our hands exclusively and therefore it's all Levy's fault.
We are not deluding ourselves, it happens year after year! How long have you been supporting us? Clubs and players have a price, if you want the deal done, pay the asking price, don't go haggling over a few £££ at the last minute. See the deals for Moutinho, Berahino, Dembele mk2, Damiao, any striker we are supposedly in for. We have a set budget for transfers, don't try wasting our time getting players that are unreachable. We cannot compete with the rich elite teams and we have to be smarter in our player purchases. More Alli's than Paulinho's. Players that are properly scouted and then purchased in good time.
We now have the added pull of being able to offer Champions League, a new stadium (Wembley), an excellent young coach, we are an attractive draw again. We want to hit the ground running and get players in asap. If a player wants to fuck about waiting for other deals, bin them off as they are clearly not interested in our club.
Have you honestly just used three examples which very much prove that by not paying the asking price we avoided overspending on shit players? Berahino and Damiao's careers have both fallen waywards and Dembele Mk 2 failed because we refused to loan him back.
He's given a solid argument and it's always the same argument, but some fans seem to just think we should spunk money at every given opportunity. We aren't the only party involved in transfers, you need to start understanding that.
Who is to say they would have been crap for us? We clearly wanted them and at the time whilst playing regularly were on an upward trajectory. In hindsight their careers have not panned out the way they had hoped, players are able to have sliding doors moments. Would WBA have dealt with us had we offered £25m instead of lowballing them. We could have still agreed the instalment package, but give them what they want. As for 3rd party ownerships, pay them off and get the player, everyone wants their piece of the pie.
We've also underspent on shit players, where we've tried to get an imitation of the player the coach wants. It was clear that Pochettino wanted Schneiderlin and Musacchio. Look at who we ended up with, Stambouli and Fazio.
Looking back at our transfers during the ENIC era it has been about a scatter gun approach of signing players and getting value for money. The only times I remember us signing the players the coach wanted were under Redknapp when we got Parker and Adebayor, players he wanted and we needed, both had outstanding seasons for us.
Yes, but splashing 25 million on Berahino was too much. And even if we agree a fee with a club, it doesnt always mean we will get the player to agree to anything straight away.
I woudnt expect us to sign anyone going to the euros until the euros are over, because that player knows a good international competition is the difference between signing for spurs or signing for madrid.
also theres no excuse for not signing a 2nd striker last summer & then in january. It was poor work from levy.We are not deluding ourselves, it happens year after year!
