Name a player other than Isco we were in for that would have vastly improved our starting XI?

Did you lot forget last year? Our team is excellent. Y'all go on as if they aren't one of the best teams around. Nor the youngest.

I'd have loved a player for the starting 11 and we clearly aren't as ambitious spending wise as our competition, but we have strengthened a promising squad that finished 3rd last season as the youngest bloody side in the league. Wanyama and Janssen are marked improvements in what we previously had, N'Koudou won't have to do much to outperform Clinton. The way some people are going about you'd think they actually think we should have matched United's arms race (Mkhitaryan, Ibra, Bailly and Pogba).

We're playing CL this year and all big Clubs have improved more than us. And even Poch said he needs 3 or 4 more good players...

I would say there's only ten or eleven clubs that are bigger than us. A couple like City and PSG we're bigger than historically, but they're financially doped by oil sheikhs or the Russian mafia.

Outside of that list, there are a couple that are bigger than us historically but have fallen on hard times, such as the Milan teams - because Serie is shit apart from Juve - and Liverpool is Liverpool, etc.

There are a lot of clubs that could argue with our supporters about this and who would claim they're bigger, but then fucking West Ham still think they're a big club so what the fuck is that worth?

We're a big club. Simple as that. We're not in the elite tier of clubs, but we're right toward the top of the ones that follow.

That's a sign of affection in some states.

I think there are at least a dozen. Real, Barca, Bayern, Man United, Man City, PSG, Chelsea, Woolwich, Liverpool, Inter, Juventus, Milan, Dortmund, and Atletico. IMO we're either at the bottom of the second tier or the top of the third tier, like the English version of Schalke, Valencia, or Roma.

If once again we exceed expectations and are a success this year do you lot promise to just STFU next deadline day?

It's getting boring you trotting out the same negative shit and the team, manager or chairman proving you wrong.

Why are you so keen for a few fans who have raised some reasonable concerns about squad depth, on a forum that is supposed to welcome debate, to be proved wrong? Obviously we all hope that we do well, and there are no problems, but why are you so against people even discussing things? There aren't any prizes for 'fan of the year' you know.

Anyway, bored now. Off out for a beer. I hope I'm in such a good mood when I return.

It doesn't have to be starting 11, my comment was about people quoting the starting 11 as a reason we don't need to be buying. We need to improve our starting 11...or our bench....or both in my opinion to compete in what is likely a much improve premier league and the champions league. I'd have taken boufal, mane, isco certainly. Zaha and Sissoko can't say im too upset about missing on. But theres plenty of players out there who could be good bench options. And sure if we make top 4 next year i'll be happy to eat crow or do whatever shaming i can on this forum. Hell I was dead wrong last year, but in my opinion we are taking a huge risk that we are deep enough for all of these competitions and that all our players will maintain form from last year, which for the majority of them was the best season's of their career.

Really though....we were the youngest team and brought everyone back, I agree our first team is excellent, why not fill out the squad to protect against injuries and improve our bench options. If we don't push in this season, when we have plenty of money a good base to build from, when is a good time to push in?
