Transfers Summer 2016 Transfer Window Thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Plus people will always point to the missed transfer opportunities when looking for a stick to beat Levy with. But seem to forget the successful transfers.

Scooping Alli from under Liverpools noses's

Getting Vertonghan to choose us over Woolwich.

Etc.....
no different to people just saying transfers are complex when he fails to sign a striker in 2 transfer windows.
They forget the thousands of complex transfers that do go through.
Its amazing how many go through when its so complex.

When everything aligns it happens, when one thing doesn't fall into place it all falls to shit.

It isn't rocket science, but everything needs to be right.

I'm not even anti-Levy, just would be nice to ditch the transfer merry go-round, sign some players and get on with looking forward to the season ahead. If we're in August still talking about signing players then it's hampering our start to the season.

Every team is still doing business come August. That will always be the way, don't expect that to change without a change to the structure of the transfer window.

Transfer window should happen when the season is done. It should not be allowed to happen for nearly a month of a new season. It allows clubs to destabilise players. If they get early injuries they should be using players that are already in their squads.

I get that it's staggered due to other leagues having different start times. Perhaps the window should be 1st of June to 30th July.

Players that are holding out for a better deal are the ones who will leave at the first sign of someone else bigger sniffing around. I want players that want to come to us and have bought into what we as a club offer. Not someone who says they will join us, unless they get a better offer.
That's a lovely sentiment but totally delusional. Unless of course you are happy signing no one because those players don't exist.

If I was looking to move jobs and I had an offer on the table at one place but if I wait a few weeks I might have more offers to weigh up I know exactly what I'd do. Anyone that says they wouldn't is either an idiot or a liar.

Those players we can get early. But I doubt they'd be the quality we're looking for. If we want quality, we have to wait. One they get to us, then it's up to us to make them change their mind and really want to stay.

Duh. Well, you should probably head over to Levy's and explain to him what he's doing wrong.

It's not just me though is it? Others on here will agree get our deals done early and better plan our start to the season. Seen it time and again where we have not hit the ground running, due to trying to sign players at the last minute.

Get players integrated into the training methods and team philosophy during pre-season.

It's not rocket science.

The problem we have is no player worth his salt is going to commit to a new club before the Euros or Copa America. He's going to assume he's going to have. A breakout tournament and add a few thousand onto his wages if he signs for someone afterwards. And it must be players involved in these tournaments we are looking at.

Just because we want players in early, doesn't mean it's the right thing for them.

Woolwich signed Xhaka, City signed Gundogan admittedly he's injured. They'd already put their ground work in. It's not like we suddenly need a striker, we've needed one for well over two windows.

I'm sure if we wanted him still we could set the Berahino deal up. He's not playing in the Euros same with Dembele mk2, who would be a tribunal job. Lacazette isn't even in the France squad for the Euros.

Are you suggesting Pritchard was thought of as a striker?
I was but I have never seen him play. I think I went from this quote from Sky 'It is understood that two Premier League clubs have shown interest in the attacker, while a host of Championship clubs would be keen to sign the 23-year-old'. However I see that the Club have him down as a midfielder. As the club have Njie & Son down as forwards then it looks like I was wrong. I still think we could do with 2 new forwards which would allow Son & njie to play further back.

Xhaka is now officially the most expensive DM in the history of the game! How many had even heard of him until last week? For those that follow Bundesliga he was listed in the Leagues best "youngest team of the season" at the end of last season along with Son and Wimmer who we bought for a combined £24m (£11m less than the scum paid for Xhaka), oh he is also on £120k per week!! Shocking business if you ask me.

If you think this transfer window is easier than others gone by then think again, not least for the Euro's and players, agents and Clubs holding out until after them in hope said player has a "stand out" tournament, ALL the premier league clubs are loaded, and can a) afford to tell clubs to fuck off b) buy who they want (e.g. Stoke, Palace etc...).

Just sit back and watch the Euro's, there is nothing to see here, nothing at all until the Euro's are done.

That's all well and good, but what about the players not at the Euros? Lacazette what's he going to do? As a rumoured player we are after surely we can get that negotiated early? Janssen as well how's he going to do at the Euros? Oh the Netherlands are not there. Not every player we are looking at will be playing at the Euros or Copa America.

So we sign Lacazette now and Batshuayi has a stormer of a tournament? Are we then going to regret the Lacazette signing?

Or (and purely as an off the top of my flu ridden head example, in no way possible) are we waiting to see if Real maybe sign Lewandovski, leaving Benzema on the "cheap" or does Higuan get a wee bit desperate in the closing days of the transfer window and reduce his wage demands by £50k per week?

I know when I was going out on the pull, I'd not cling on to the first 7/10 I clapped eyes on, I'd wait till later in the evening, once I'd seen a bit more of the talent pool, before mickeying a drink. Seems to be the Spurs way too and I'm more than happy with that.

We're gonna sign Higuain.
