Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Tottenham and Everton are eyeing Real Betis'Argentina central midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, 23. (Sun)
Same nationality as poch, gives us an advantage.

Not long now chaps.

Everyone’s favourite, barely literate wally, Hercules, is dusting off his crystal ball, ready to deliver a Summer-long volley of incomprehensible transfer-related bullshit.

I, for one, cannot wait.
It's going to be great. Can't tell if it'll be worse than last year (where he had to walk back on everything he said when we ended up signing no-one) or better this year where he'll desperately try to cold read the transfer market and retrospectively say he knew about whoever the fuck we sign.

It doesn’t help the fact the squad has to carry players like Lamela due to his injuries he is just wasting a spot in this squad, we also have players like KWP and Skipp who poch doesn’t think are good enough to start, then we have Jansen who is not good enough and llorente who has done us a service but needs upgrading as he is never going to be used unless Kane is Injured, if we can just upgrade on these with players who will challenge the starting 11 then it would be a successful window

Yes that’s 100% right in my book too.... 👍🏾

A lot of comments about modric being too old.

Surely if we are looking for a player to rotate in to midfield an older player could be a great choice?

Experienced, doesn’t mind sitting on the bench, doesn’t need minutes on the pitch to “develop”

Would be stupid to turn it down IMO. I don't think it would be a crazy fee and he would more than fill a spot on the bench. He would bring so much more to the team than on field prowess. We need that right now. Our elder statesman, outside Llorente and Lloris, haven't won many big titles. Modric has been to the top both club wise and personally (Ballon 2018).

This is of course not my first move. But if I secure someone like Diawara, a RB, and a forward and still have some cash to burn, then hells yes.

On another note, Llorente at Real, their young CM, has been made available according to reports. Would be interested in him if we are looking for a bit more youth. He has deputized for Casemiro this season and has been talked about by Real supporters.

Isn't Weigl kind of like a German Dier? Not trying to be funny but that's generally the impression I've gotten from him any time I've seen him play, which granted hasn't been loads of times.

From my experience he is more of a Declan Rice. A bit more mobile and comfortable with the ball at his feet. He wouldn't have the amount of games he has now without having some skill to play centrally within a free flowing Dortmund side. He has just plateaued and isn't the 19 year old future star some thought he was. I do think he would have filled a major hole in our midfield this season, but I like others far more than him.

Have you watched much of Llorente at Madrid? I see he is available, according to reports, and I have read good things about him from Madrid supporters.

If one good thing has come from this run of results then it’s (hopefully) shown Levy and the board that injuries happen (and now suspensions) and that one of the reasons we aren’t home and hosed long ago was the lack of investment in the 2 windows. This squad peaked around 2017, but I think big changes are needed now. But like most I am excited...but also nervous for the window ahead! Probably apprehensive because in my heart of hearts I just don’t think levy will release the funds needed!! Which is 200m + as we are CL clubs and within the top 4 again. We need to be backed and push on.

In our squad I worry about lack of characters, think we need big dressing room characters next season.

Players out: Trippier, Aurier, Janssen, Llronte, GKN, Wanyama and Lamela (good player, but too many injuries) - unfortunately I think Toby will go!! Which is terrible as he is our best defender, does Sanchez worry anyone else at the back!!!

Players in: this may be unrealistic, but hay. Rabiot - i think we have to bust a gut to get this guy! He’s total class, CL quality player, top 4 class. Plus he’s a fighter.
Wan Bissaka - I really like this guy, he’s big, strong, quick and can defend as well as attack.
Grealish & Sessengon- we’ve been linked with these too for ages, I’d take a punt on both, both have certain qualities, they may not be starters but if they can be gotten for reasonable money I go for it.
Fekir - this guy is pure class, if Erikson goes we’ll need something of that quality to replace him and Fekir has only one year left on his deal at Lyon. Also Kai Havertz in Germany is a quality young player. Fekir can also fill in as striker, as can Son if Harry is out.

One last point, if we can hold onto Toby and Chris in the summer it would be great, but I am not as optimistic.

COYS

All those going in one window lol 😂😂😂⚽👍🏾

Ndombele would be a great fit.
He's the only player linked in past couple of season that I would genuinely LOVE to have at the club. Would give us what we've been missing since Dembele had back-to-back injuries and left quietly (still gutted about that).

Ndombele looks classy and he's got strength, touch, pace and vision. This, for me, would be THE marquee signing for the first full season at NWHL.

Just wondering how many players people want because the main feeling I get on this forum is that:
Dier, Trippier, Davies, Wanyama, Llorente, Sanchez, Janssen are not good enough.

Moura, Sissoko, Winks, KWP are just squad back up

Foyth, Skipp aren’t ready yet

Toby, Eriksen are off

Leaving us with Dele, Kane, Son, Jan, Rose, Lloris. I think some of you might melt a bit this summer when your fantasies are not realised.

I want to see two good players - CM & RB. Depending on what happens after, if we sell Eriksen and/or Toby we obviously need to replace them. So 3-4 players would be decent. I don’t think we’ll sign too many new players at once. Additionally Janssen and N’Koudou should leave. KWP loaned out.

Sammy, you're absolutely right that it's all not happening. And yes, there are supporters who want each of those specific players gone. But nobody is saying they all should. Swap out 4 or 5 of the "not good enough" or "just squad players" with some quality and I don't think anyone serious would complain about the rest.

Sanchez as 3rd choice CB, Dier and Davies as guys who can cover multiple positions when injuries hit, and Winks as a rotation mid. Not a problem.

But do you think moving 4/5 of the obvious deadwood and replacing them with quality is out of the question? Every club has to have second options. For example, while not my first choice, Davies isn't a worry if he's not also lined up beside Fouth, and behind Big Vic and Skipp.

As long we're not replacing the deadwood with backups, what do you think is reasonable to expect? I know that a sincere question instead of a fight is unusual, but here we are.

I agree with the sentiments on these players (although hoping somehow Eriksen signs a new contract) but that doesn't mean I expect that we will sell all these players and replace them in this window, and I doubt any others do.

The overhaul will have to happen over a couple of windows. Some players leave this summer, some in january etc etc. Moving too many at once would just disrupt the squad.

Can't wait for all the excuses as to why we haven't signed anyone once the season ends and the summer begins

-Season just ended
-Levy and Poch on holiday
-Have to wait until internationals are out the way
-transfer fees too high
-players on holiday
-cant sign anyone officially until July 1st
-have to wait for bigger clubs to do their business before we can enter the market
-Brexit
-unwanted players must be sold first to make way for new signings
-players are cheaper at the end of the window
-we can save on wages by delaying signing anyone until the later stages of the summer

What fun

Oh god... I don’t understand this Grealish love in. Is it because of his looks? His haircut? I don’t think he’s such a great player, he’s ok and can become good but is not what’s needed for a title run.

He’s better than Ok and if people are talking about Maddison as an extra AM then you will get arguably a better and cheaper player in that position. Of course it’s not going to give us a title run.

We work on Tottenham budgets not Liverpool and City’s, if we were i’d be looking at different players.

Grealish seems to have developed some drive and character in the last year. Poch can improve some aspects of his game. At the right price he is worth considering if other deals fail to materialise

However I think Villa will win the play offs and he won't move anywhere this summer
