Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Disagree with you there mate. Liverpool were behind us last year, found their weak spots, and were rutheless enough to replace them. We should do the same with our full-backs. Meanwhile, our midfield situation isn't as much for replacing as it is to add both quality and numbers to an area that we lack depth.
Yeah sure I agree. I said that in here multiple times. We address our weak spots with top players like they did and we will win things or be very very close.

Too many people have been sucked in to the theory that football only matters if you win trophies, it’s fucking sad. This is the best performing Spurs team of my lifetime by quite some distance
This would have been a valid comment 2 years ago. It's been the best performing Spurs team in my lifetime as well, but its been that way for 5 years now. Is it not time to strive for more?

What context?

Back Poch in the window, spend big, pay them what they want....

Do that, we win nothing, and it’s still on Levy?
It's not black and white. For instance, people say we were lucky to make top 4 last season. Others say that we were unlucky with injuries, the world cup, stadium delays, etc..

Our goal should be compete in on all fronts, but ultimately, the PL and CL matter more than anything else. If we invest in the squad but don't win a trophy the season may be failure, or it may not. It may be Poch's fault, or Levy's, or the players. In reality, it's a bit of everything.

Any trophy while not dropping out of the top 4 is success

We’ve had a squad more than capable of winning a domestic cup and finishing top 4 for 5 years now and failed.
When is it on Poch?

I don’t think that’s Poch’s remit, he at least from old quotes which I can’t be fucked to dig up looks at doing as well in the league and CL as priority over the FA and LC.

Would him prioritising the FA and LC suit you more?

I have ignored the last few Transfer threads but being reading these last few days. The number of comments is unbelievable and I doubt many can read all of them.
My view is that we have lost Dembele and Vorm and therefore need to address replacements. We clearly did not have enough strength on the bench for many matches last season and need to add to the squad.
If we lose more players then they must be replaced. I will not get involved in how much we should pay. A few pages back it was pointed out that our best players did not cost big money. Someone suggested we should employ Leicester's Scouts which may be a good point. Surely it is the Scouting that has been lacking these last 2 years. Where is the next Eriksen or Dele in our list of targets at reasonable prices. Nothing wrong with paying £63m for a top player but still a place for a good player at a more reasonable price.
I do not watch a lot of non Spurs football and cannot tell if our targets are good which is why I am reading this thread, not to listen to arguments on how much we should spend. but views on whether a target is any good.
Homegrown over foreign players is important and I would be reluctant to sell our Homegrown players for this reason.

Our squad has been strong enough to win a domestic and finish top 4 I said.
He would not have to prioritise it.....are you saying the team that beat Ajax couldn’t have won the Carabou by now
