Atalanta right-back Timothy Castagne has admitted that he would not be able to turn down a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Jose Mourinho is on the hunt for a new right-back this summer, with Serge Aurier failing to convince. Spurs had been in the market for Thomas Meunier, but were disappointed when he joined Borussia Dortmund instead.
As an alternative, Tottenham could turn to another Belgian international in Castagne. The 24-year-old has played his part in Atalanta’s growth over the past few years, but could now be ready for the next step.
Castagne is out of contract next summer, so Atalanta must decide whether to cash in on him when the transfer window opens.
Reports have linked him with a move to Spurs – or indeed PSG, to replace Meunier. And Castagne would be happy with either destination – even admitting he hopes the news is concrete.
“I think the time has come to move on, but I won’t be disappointed if I stay in Bergamo,” Castagne told La Derniere Heure in Belgium.
“I’m very proud of this. It’s proof that hard work pays off. I hope it’s more than just simple interest from them.”
A move to Tottenham may raise eyebrows given the fact that Castagne supported Woolwich growing up. However, the versatile full-back insists that is in the past, and he would not be able to reject Spurs.
“I was especially a fan when Thierry Henry played for them. Now I’m not so much,” he explained.
“You have to be honest with yourself. When a team like PSG or Tottenham come knocking on your door, you can’t say ‘no’.”
Wolves bought a whole loads of players, which cost under £20m each. Most of which TFC would have turned their noses up at as being “bargains” yet they’re doing alright.
Maybe it’s the football operations that are also the problem? We know that answer is a yes.

I read the Athletic piece and actually while we missed out on some players we had some lucky misses (Morientes) and the player we signed instead ended up being the better buy (Keane) for us.
You mentioned bargains, I was just saying that many of the players wolves bought people would turn their noses up at here. That article doesn’t mean anything in regards to that.
Wolves were shopping at a lower level and spending more net than Tottenham do, most clubs have.
The amount of major targets that managers wanted and we have missed out on is ridiculous tbh.
I agree on that. The one that pissed me off the most was Suarez. That was on Redknapp though thinking he couldn’t play up front and sherwood not rating him. Had we bought him that January we’d of won the league under redknapp and things could of been so much different in our recent history. That was a massive turning point.
The amount of transfers that Chelsea fucked us on, which the article doesn’t mention is crazy. They’ve outbid us at the last minute for years, the most recent being Pulisic. The list is crazy actually when you list it. Mata, hazard, courtois, Parker, duff, willian, Oscar. So many it’s as depressing as reading that article.
Too many stories about last minute deals and haggling and about the way Levy does business that completely mesh with our financial performance and net spend.
Makes it even worse when we drop shitloads on players that often seem poorly scouted and poorly suited to the league...these are often the players we don't have all that much competition for IMO.

For the first few years of his leadership it was seen as cunning and clever, but now most of Europe is wise to his antics and so in recent times it has become tedious, boring and a waste of time.
Quick, go and tell Liverpool that they shouldn’t have signed Robertson because he got relegated with Hull. Maybe they will terminate his contract.
Robertson was obviously suited to English football, having fucking played it before.
So why didn't we see that and sign him ?
Would be kind of useful to have had a decent LB at a bargain price - £6m or so if I remember right
Because at the time we had Rose who was great and Davies, we should of signed him, I was gutted, him and Maguire I really wanted us to sign
Everytime the club sets up a DOF or a scouting system it ends in failure, the question is who or what is behind the constant break down and failure in this area it does beg the question.
Fucked if I know mate, I quite liked him at Hull and always thought Rose was fairly overrated and was never that natural a fullback. Terrible first touch.
Retrospect is harsh with some of those numbers. They got a lot of cash for Coutinho.
Our net spend was less than £16m that season, but were building the stadium.
It was either the manager or the board/transfer committee, I see a little of both that season. I honestly think scouting wasn't the issue though. The PSG transfers just stunk of a good deal, everyone thought so at the time. Both players were surplus and it was a bit of a FFP firesale IIRC? (One of them was a complete dud)
The more I look at our recent dealings, the more I suspect they have been prioritised for financial reasons (amortisation, valuations, projections, depreciation rates, wage demands, risk of loss etc.) rather than footballing ones and it seems to me that at Tottenham, under ENIC, the manager is usually only given these choices of player the majority of the time.
This Amazon thing will be interesting, as much as they'll allow to be shown. The Dybala thing actually stinks a bit as a stunt to me now, but I'm quite cynical at this point.

Robertson moved to Liverpool in summer 2017, just after Rose had been out for about 9 months injured, and think this was when Rose started stopping being great, although we might not have realised that at the time.
Bad timing. Had we bought Robertson we would have upgraded on Rose.
Obviously thought Sanchez was better than Maguire and went for him, but think Maguire plus buying another first tram player with the money saved from not buying Sanchez would have been an even better deal.

A RB was necessary as Walker had insisted on going to ManCity, but think Aurier was a poor footballing decision if we could have got Pereira (who went to Leicester) at the same time for similar £'s
Moura looked a decent priced buy at the time, only left PSG because of Neymar arriving and taking his place. At PSG had a decent record of goals and assists which has not transferred to PL at the same rate.
IMO, problem with buying from PSG is they are so dominant in the French league, they look better players than they actually are as the opposition is weaker. Applies to both Aurier and Moura
Think that at most football clubs its a mix of manager and transfer committee making decisions - Klopp is on record as saying that Salah was forced on him.....later said he was grateful that others knew better than him !
Off your list, Foyth, Gazzaniga and probably Llorentes are heavily Poch choices, and I suspect Aurier was too and Sanchez (Levy wouldn't have suggested club record be spent on a CB for choice).
Moura I suspect was suggested to Levy from PSG (or might have been PSG to their former player Poch) as a decent option for an AM/striker.
