Now, no. But he was a main stay at Real where he was getting 14+ assists a year. He was one of Germany's best. He sucks as a human, but if I had 11/12 Ozil, I would be playing him.

I haven't seen anything out of Tanguy that suggests he is evil as Ozil, but he is a talent like Ozil. Not like for like, but I would build my midfield around him.

Tanguy - Sangaree/Ndidi/... - GLC

That is a sexy lineup and he would be right back in a situation like Lyon where he didn't have to control the whole midfield in a CM2.

My comment was purely a reflection upon my thoughts of Ozil (and not the player of 7/8 years ago); not a reflection on Ndombele.

Gio won him over, I'm not disputing that. I'm saying that the only reason he got a chance to do so, and for a consistent run of matches, was because of injuries to the squad. It wasn't because he worked hard in training or knuckled down or any of that - he just happened to be fit and available at the time we needed him to be.

Gio came back and played the last two Champions League matches before Poch got sacked, so it wasn't a match fitness issue that kept him out from mid-November until Boxing Day. Mourinho was playing Winks, Sissoko, etc..over him in midfield.

He took the opportunity, whereas I don't think Ndombele has really been given any opportunity under Jose compared to the run of matches he was getting under Poch, albeit under a team that was largely not working at the time.

I went back and read through the Son thread and you could just copy-replace Son/Ndombele and get most of the same arguments on both sides - note, this is just TWO PAGES but it goes on for hundreds of posts:
I was young and dumb. Forgive me son.

If the gossip on the BBC page is even partially true. we are not going to be in the top 4 for a very long time. Liverpool, City we all know about. Chelsea and Utd are buying really fine players. Our only mention is we haven't even come up with an acceptable offer for Hjoberg or whatever his name is!! We are getting left so far behind, it'll take new owners and huge investment to challenge for the CL place.
Hoping for top 4 in the foreseeable future is a pipe dream. I'll be celebrating if we qualify for the Europa league. Watching how these 4 teams are developing is a lesson Levy needs to learn. But of course he won't and next season might be as angst ridden as this one was. The mighty Spurs are looking mighty unmighty at the moment. It's tragic considering we were one of the flagship teams of the footballing world. We didn't need to do a Leeds. We've done a Levy which is far worse.
Spot on mate

It would be nice this summer to read about a few new Spurs signings without terms such as "has the potential to be" or "in a couple of seasons with the right management could well.....".

Let's have players who have succesfully grown through that stage and actually reached the anticipated high talent levels. Buy them early in the holidays, fuck all the haggling for once, get them settled in and come out fighting right from the first whistle.

Give the patient, weary, ever optimistic and cash strapped supporters something to really get excited about.
Go on Levy, I fucking dare you !
