I like him. Lots of raw ingredients but has the potential to be a very good right back. 1 year left on his contract. He has been out for a year with a bad knee injury but is back now
I personally wasn’t a huge fan. Defensively solid but I like my full backs to offer more going forward than what I saw from him personally.

Would much rather keep KWP.

I don’t really understand as his primary position is on the left where we’re well stocked - Son, Bergwijn, Sess. Don’t know how effective he is on the right.
He offers the same aggression as Lamela, but unlike Lamela is 2 footed to the extent when you watch him play you don't know what is his strong side

I know for sure he has played on the left the right & central, im all for this move, makes more sense to sell Lamela and loan this guy in

Love Lamela but he just doesn't offer enough

Thing is when you're at that level there's a limit to whom you can attract even if you are splashing out, so you end up overpaying for mediocrity (or worse)...

See Everton....

Even look at City when they first got rich.

Newcastle will face similar.

Smart scouting/incremental grown if is a far more reliable track to climbing the table but it takes patience.
Being completely honest brother you're find it nearly impossible to sign someone so technically deficient for £30 m ( today 40) as our lovable cult classic , big bad wolf Sissoko.

Saints fans seem to be of the opinion that they can't wait to get rid of Holjberg and he is an average player at best.

Is this sour grapes or is he actually any good?

be a lie to say I've watched him alot

They do the same with every player that is leaving them. Wanyama and Van Dijk had the same treatment, and I'm sure the likes of Ings and Ward-Prowse would if they left.

I watch a lot of Bayern games and to be honest Perisic has been pretty underwhelming. I think his best days are behind him. Could be a good threat off the bench though
His game was mostly based on driving wie runs at pace - almost like a budget version of Robben

Once legs are gone it's all downhill but he can still adapt much like Giggs did in his later years

I've always liked Hojbjerg and thought he's stood out as a good player in a mid table side. Genuinely believe he's a really solid signing for us and improved the team without being a truly top class player.

Saints fans think that he gives away the ball too much this season and late last year, which is probably true. I think maybe the frenetic pace of the Southampton play in some games, and Hassenhutls encouragement to loft passes into the channels results in low passing stats as much as any technical deficiency. He has a tendency to screw the odd pass off course.

All in all, strong ball winner, great attitude, lifts the effort of those around him, has the ability to pass well and pass forward, but he will have a few that really make you wonder.

Pretty spot on assessment of Hojbjerg. He isn't the next Kante/Ndidi, but would certainly improve us and almost guaranteed will not be a flop.

Four years ago he wouldn't have been the best signing...but given our current situation, and the state of football in general, I really think he's as good as we can get.
