Transfers Summer 2020 Transfer Thread

I can't wrap my head around why we would want to pick up players from Bournemouth.

They went down for a reason. Callum Wilson scored 7 league goals in 35 performances.

Hojberg I get, his stats are amongst the best in the division.

Wilson and Brooks is a big swerve for me.

We've raided the relegated clubs before and it hasn't taken us forward see Neil Sullivan and Chris Perry

Talk is cheap in who we will/won’t buy but one fact is if we dont get our shit together LEVY we are gonna fall further behind over to son......

I'm not bothered where we get our players from. Relegated clubs can provide some decent bargains. I think Robertson and Wijnaldum were both signed from relegated clubs, either would have been great signings for us.

I just think our whole scouting and transfer strategy seems a bit disjointed. We don't sign top players. We don't seem to go for top youngsters (over the age of 15 anyway).

I look at the likes of Dortmund and they are similar size to us but seem to have a clear strategy to try and target the best young players from anywhere in the world. Why can't we do the same?

On the other hand, Defoe and Parker from West Ham.

you think deeney is a good signing if we do it. man city are clearly sorting their quota out. robertson always looked good in that hull side as with maddison.
Fans change their mind based on if we are in for a player or get him. Not interested in him then he's crap. We in for him or sign him then its "what a signing". Same with jose before we had him. "Toxic dinosaur." We get him.... "what a coup from levy to get us the special one".
Same with "we really need a striker to take the weight off kane". No striker signed. "Smart not getting in a striker when you have son & lucas who can play there. I am pretty sure we play better without kane anyway".

You from January 19 to Poch getting sacked we were showing relegation form of just over a 1 point per game. Does that mean all our players are shit or that the team wasn’t functioning properly and confidence drained away?

It's an interesting point.

I don't think it necessarily works though, in a 38 game season you play everyone twice home and away. You can take a snapshot of a calendar year and point out the form in that period but its not really the same thing.

Calum Wilson played 35 games and bagged 7 league goals. Dele bagged 8 in only 25 games and had a pretty bad season by his standards.

Bottom line is, I'm not sure Brooks or Wilson are better than our current fringe players.
