Would you guys prefer Barella or Sabitzer?

Sabitzer seems to be more versatile in terms of position, and also has a better significantly better goalscoring record.
Also Sabitzer will only have a year left on his contract this summer, not sure about Barella's situation with regard to that.

I quite like Barella, I wouldn’t put him in Modric’s bracket, but he’s quite a busy little fucker who can play football. But like a lot of likeable midfield players, the caveat is he’s best as an 8 in a CM3, that would be fine for me, but that means there’s not much point in us pursuing him right now unless Mou and his turgid 4231 bus are getting the bullet.

The other caveat is any half decent midfielders look great to me after watching 5 years of elephants trundling round our midfield - I've got Richard Pryor stoned cracker syndrome now.

Barella is a better footballer and younger.

But Sabitzer would be great for us - versatile, professional and a good footballer. He's more of a Mourinho footballer. And if Mourinho leaves and is replaced by Nagelsman, he's a pretty good Nagelsman footballer too.

Plus Sabitzer is gettable

Barella is only 2 years younger, but he’s only scored 15 goals in 177 Apps, while Sabitzer has scored 44 in 219 Apps.

Sabitzer can play RW as well as deep in CM, so seems to have more attributes than just goal scoring.
Perhaps I’m reading too much into stats. Sabitzer really impressed me in the CL the last year though.

You can't judge midfielders on goals though. And like you say, Sabitzer has played more advanced in his career.

Sabitzer is more versatile than Barella - but he's no where near as good as a footballer.

In terms of playing advanced, is Barella not normally a the most advanced CM in Inter team?
Ive also seen a few games where he plays right behind Lukaku who is the lone striker (this was when Lautaro was injured so must be rare to be fair).

Fair enough, I have not watched tonnes of Inter recently beyond their Europa League run last season.

What’s his contract situation like? Estimated value?

He has 3 years left on his contract.

I'd say he'd cost about £40,000,000 - £50,000,000.

But he's a pretty key player. Probably a top 5 central midfielder in the world right now and Inter Milan are heading towards a potential Serie A title. They won't sell him.

Based on style of play and our current squad, I will take Sabitzer, but Barella is quite the talent
Sabitzer was included in my email to Levy which I’m sure he has pinned on his wall by now.

In all seriousness though, the deal makes perfect sense. 1 year left on contract which Levy will love, versatile which Jose will love, and a great goal scoring record which the fans will appreciate.

Actually he is often the most advanced of the central midfielders with Brozovic and Vidal being further back.

If by advanced you mean perhaps 2 or 3 meters further out wide, sure.

He's barely an AM though and his goalscoring record shouldn't be used as a stick to beat him with when comparing him with inferior players who score more.

Wasnt looking at his goal scoring but that in Conte's 3-5-2 system, between the central trio of Barella, Brozovic and Vidal, Barella is the most advanced and Brozovic the deepest. Hakimi and Perisic are the WBs.
