Transfers Summer 2022 Transfer Thread.

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Liverpool spent the Coutinho money superbly. Then when they knew they had a top manager who needed that extra bit of quality they bought the best keeper and centre back money could buy. Compare and contrast to Poch who was only backed when the team was falling apart and he was exhausted with it all. We're lucky to have another chance so soon and we cant mess up again.
And when Pochettino got backed he wasted it on Aurier (£23m), Sanchez (£42m), Lo Celso (£54m) and Ndombele (£55m) amounting to a cool £174m (ok, many of the add-ons condition were not met).
The 3 first mentioned players are good players but they were not "built" for the EPL. Ndombele is easily the biggest transfer disaster in Spurs' history considering the price and his bad/lazy attitude and was so well-known that it could be googled. I really like Pochettino but his transfer dealings showed that maybe he was not to be trusted so easily after all...

The "nobodies wrong" comment is purely in reference to the entire point of this debate - that it is far too early to forgive Levy for years of under investment, stingeyness, poor decisions, money saving, money making etc etc. It's far too early to call that and Spurs fans who dislike Levy aren't suddenly going to lick his balls because we have 2 free signings and a (very good) £25m player.

I would actually attribute the earliness of these deals to Paratici anyway.
But it's not far too early to say that the transfer window so far * for us has been a good one.

It's not too early to say that our signings so far have strengthened our first team.

It's not too early to say that signing Forster is an upgrade on Gollini.

And yet, you are unable to say it.

Ah the old "everything that's wrong is down to Levy and everything that's right is luck, or down to someone else" argument.

As the anti Levy lot keep saying, when blaming him "who appointed X...?"

And we will. What's your point? It's still June...

We CAN start the pre-season with those players - they'll just be kept away from the first team...

So far Bissouma will be a fucking star! Perisic..I dont know how good a 33 year old be in the PL. And forster will not play many games. Based on the time thats passed so far in this window, its a good start. We still need to get a decent RB , LCB and the ever elusive second striker! Next season starts on August 6. So we still have over a month left to prepare.
I suspect Perisic will be a regular this coming season and given how frequently he gets involved in goals, will be useful. On a free, that's all we can ask. Bissouma, I think will really solidify our midfield. As you say, Forster sits on the bench for most games.
As it stands, we may make top 4 look a bit easier than last season but we still really lack strength in depth. Like - REALLY lack it. We're still relying on Lucas or Bergwjin if we need goals. We're still relying on Sanchez or Rodon if we lose a defender. We still have 3 good games Doherty or good RB but not good RWB Emerson for one of the 2 most crucial spots in Conte's system.

Ergo - it is way too soon to say this is a good window.
It's started well.

It isn’t like. He’s really trying to do that. Woolwich is an AliExpress version of city.
It's mad how the woolwich fans have brought into the "we're the new man city" meme, when lego boy was mocked for it all these years.

I like a bit of tippy tappy technical football too, but fuck me, watching Brighton is frustrating, never mind if my own team was like that.

They are the most delusional fan base for some reason. At least with us we are the first ones to shit and berate our club :contelip:

Sort of the point that Klopp got top targets, Poch didn't get Mane, Zaha and had to make do with Sissoko. He didnt get Grealish when a deal was there. Mistakes were made on Janssen, Sanchez and Aurier no question. Lo Celso and Ndombele barely got to play in Pochs system so its impossible to know how things would have turned out, although we can probably guess on the latter.

Was also made manager and was allowed to change our policies on players on loan. You also missed £30 million on Sissoko and £17 million on Janssen.

Solid source here saying things are moving in the right direction re. Richarlison.

£60m is a lot.. but he's a good player, good rotation for front three positions, and a big strong lad who should hit the ground running for us. Hopefully this one gets done if he's the one Conte wants over Raphinha and whoever else.

£60m is hugely overpriced tbh. Especially as we got screwed on the Dele deal too. Hope we can get £20m out of Winks, that would only be a £5m overpay.
