BTW is Lenget fast? Our backline needs a bit of pace, Dier, Davies and Romero isn't exactly lightning quick.

We get nothing up front, the total potential fee is shrouded in mystery. Whatever we get will drop slowly over a long period.

we were trying to sell Dele to quite a few clubs, but no takers. So Everton deal with staggered payments (but they take all his salary from Day 1) might well have been best deal going.

And if we could repeat that for £60m Ndombele I suspect we might need to take it

Solid source here saying things are moving in the right direction re. Richarlison.

£60m is a lot.. but he's a good player, good rotation for front three positions, and a big strong lad who should hit the ground running for us. Hopefully this one gets done if he's the one Conte wants over Raphinha and whoever else.

I think this would drag on more if it wasn't for Everton's financial troubles meaning they need some dosh this week. Fingers crossed it just gets done ASAP. Get Big Dick Richie in before pre-season properly kicks off and let Paratici focus on that LCB search.

I suspect we'd want it tied up ASAP. He looks like the one we are moving for. Probably makes sense as he ticks a lot of boxes. I bet we do a bit of jiggery pokery with the fee though because of their financial situation. I just cant see it being £60m.

For those balking at the 60m price tag (though I'm not sure if that's euros, pounds with add ons included, etc) just remember that the blue scousers spunked £50m to buy him in the first place.

Given that he's not depreciated (Tanguy says hello) and prices are even crazier now than 2018, it's not an insane price.

Raphinha for £65m is crazier IMO.

The hype on this chap is ridonkulous.

Or one Ben Davsinho

Is it just me that thinks this is the spitting image of Tony Adams?

I'm really not sure a bad dance to celebrate maybe 10 goals a season is worth £60m lol.

So, if true Rich is valued at £65m.
For FFP purposes we could pay that in a lump sum by June 30 and they pay us £25m on July 1.
Or to avoid the Watford sell on maybe we pay £40m and Berg is "free?"

Watford would be well within their rights to take the mater further. Everton aren't going to just get around the sell on clause. The best they can do is claim it's 10% of the cash value of Richarlison. IE 10% of what we pay in addition to a player exchange.
Everton need money. Them swapping us for 2 or 3 players doesn't help them at the moment. So it's looking like roughly £40m + Winks. Watford would be totally within their rights to say Winks, a HG player with x amount of years on his contract, is worth enough money to push Richarlison into the sell on trigger.

The worst case (for Everton) is that Watford prove Winks is worth a silly amount of money.

If Everton weren't struggling with money, we could have swapped them Winks, Bergwjin and Rodon and they might have managed to get away with it as they never actually "sold" Richarlison.

I think in the ideal world we'd try to get 10 players in - but that's pretty much impossible as
1. Sheer number of deals to do, adding in outgoings too
2 The number of top quality players available isn't huge - and plenty of clubs around wanting them. So no club gets all they want.

So we come out of this window a lot stronger with decent quality additions in about 6 positions throughout the squad, including 2 or 3 top quality players.

That's real progress. And I think a number of other clubs will be envious of our squad.

Then we need to repeat on a smaller scale to increase quality again next summer. That was always going to be needed if you looked at our squads in last few games of last season.
It doesnt have to be 10. 6 or 7 new players would have been fine but with at least 4 of those improving the first team from day 1. We might still do that but if its Lenglet and Spence to fill those 2 roles then it doesn't. Not to say that they might not come good but it will take time and coaching. I doubt Liverpool and City would be looking at that and thinking we're a theat which is what i'd hoped we might be looking at.
