£110m gets you Lo Celso and Ndombele
Or one Ben Davsinho

Assuming Rich has a realistic pricetag of about 50m, there's no way we're paying another 50m inc add-ons for Gordon.

not really any first teamers there barring perisic and bissouma

if you had told me a few months back these were the targets i would never of believed you especially with cl
You could argue CB and RB are not necessarily an urgent requirement to reinforce early in the window compared to our lack of depth in the front 3, especially with Bergwijn on the way out the door, Lucas is a very "meh" 4th option and Richarlison will get a lot of minutes next season swapping in for the front 3, especially seeing as Kane has largely avoided injury this season and got WC in November-December he is almost dead cert to get a niggly ankle thing at some point. We are gonna need to keep Son and Kane fresh for the CL this season and that's gonna be hard to do without cover, whereas I would be over the moon to get a Gvardiol or Bastoni this summer but wouldn't be devastated if we went with our current crop of CB's for the season. Wouldn't even mind seeing how Royal could push on under Conte but appreciate he would prob rather have HG Spence with his attacking acumen.

depends what Conte has asked for. If he wants a stronger bench then we’ve got that with those signings. I think Conte’s first press conference will be very telling.

we need to strengthen our top 18 players given the season is a month shorter with same number of games as we will need to rotate each game like never before - plus 5 subs.

So strengthening the first X1 is not good enough any longer, we need a much stronger bench too in terms of both quality and numbers

Wonder what the feeling of the inter fans was when Conte brought in Moses and Ashley Young?
I like Richarlison as an option for the front 3 (60M probably too much if correct) and will wait and see who else we bring in but got to judge them in a spurs shirt before getting too excited or Melt.

I'm quite happy with Richarlison, but yeah, not anything mindblowing.

We've essentially achieved 3 of our 6 key goals.

A top LWB, quality backup attacker, ball playing CM/DM.

More worryingly, there doesn't seem to be any hope of finding the top quality RWB, LCB. Richy and Moura as the attacking depth leaves a lot to be desired too.

I think the world and their uncle knows Everton hugely over paid for him and have done so for a lot of other players. And that's why they're knee deep in shit. I can't argue that he is a decent football player and is maybe a bit better than he was. But he also only has 1 or 2 years left on his contract and is 25+ now

He's not a good cunt. He's not a Romero, a Costa, a Drogba etc. He literally just feigns injury and he does it too much. If that's what you want from a player, then I suggest you're very much in the minority.
He will have to pack it in at Spurs because fans aren't going to tolerate it.
If he's om the deck for the 13th time in a game and the opposition are taking the ball into our half every time, he'll have 60k fans off their seats screaming at him to get up and chase back. If the ref hasn't blown and he's not injured, he needs to get the hell up and get back.

Very few top players available in any one window - but quite a few clubs chasing them all. So no club is going to get many 'top players'.

I'm good with incoming players if they significantly improve the squad - and I suspect we'll get 3 who improve starting X1 and 3 who improve depth and quality on bench, both valuable upgrades.

And I suspect we'll try to get 4 - 6 next summer as well.
Surely the remit this summer was to improve the first team with LWB, RWB, left centre back and central midfield whilst improving the squad and adding more creativity. Peresic and Bissouma do improve the first team, Lenglet and Spence highly questionable. I'm sorry talking about summer 2023 is way off.

Tottenham want to sign Brazil forward Richarlison, 25, and English winger Anthony Gordon, 21, from Everton in a double deal. Chelsea are also interested in Richarlison. (Sky Sports)

But Everton are not interested in selling Gordon, whose contract with the Goodison Park club runs until 2025, as part of any transfer involving Richarlison. (Liverpool Echo)

If as a club we're able to invest in non first XI players to the tune of what is being quoted fot Richarlson then that's a good sign for where the club is heading. Whether Richarlson is the right player or not in the short term is another question but if that's who the manager/DoF want then it's there necks on the line. Personally i think he'll do well

The cynical barstard in me thinks Everton wanted us to bid for Gordon so they could say bugger off and look tough to their fans. It’s never easy for any fanbase losing a top player like Richarlison so you need to look like you have put up a fight.

I think in the ideal world we'd try to get 10 players in - but that's pretty much impossible as
1. Sheer number of deals to do, adding in outgoings too
2 The number of top quality players available isn't huge - and plenty of clubs around wanting them. So no club gets all they want.

So we come out of this window a lot stronger with decent quality additions in about 6 positions throughout the squad, including 2 or 3 top quality players.

That's real progress. And I think a number of other clubs will be envious of our squad.

Then we need to repeat on a smaller scale to increase quality again next summer. That was always going to be needed if you looked at our squads in last few games of last season.

For so many years we’ve seen the club waste time trying to chase the impossible targets and be left with egg on its face scrambling around at the last minute for whatever it could get.

If we’ve already seen that the top options just aren’t doable so are moving to secure an option with mitigate risk that improves our squad, even if not necessarily our first team, then that’s a good thing in my opinion. Worst case scenario, we’re not castrates by an injury to Ben Davies. Best case, Lenglet rediscovered his early career form, usurps Davies and improved the LCB spot at first team level, so we make the loan permanent. There really is no downside.

At his best the guy had a lot of Vertonghen about him. Why it’s gone so south at Barca? No idea but look at the guys we got from Juve to remember how big an impact the environment of the club can have.

Hopefully it also means money is freed up to look at upgrading a part of the pitch seemingly more achievable than LCB seems to be.
Well said sir , spot on !
