Honestly I will be gutted if we keep Chicken Royale for another season.

Its not fair for anyone to watch that clown playing football.

Listen boyo, Emerson is a model professional. He trains hard, plays hard, and does everything to improve himself technically, physically, and mentally. And he never complains. Slag him off, if you want, but be prepared for a shitload of abuse when you do.

Claro?

That's the going rate for homegrown these days especially with a player like Maddison, not saying we should pay it by I can see the club doing it, we got money to burn through and we need more HG players and Conte is specifically making noise about getting a creative mid.

Maddison fits the bill as he's the only one available who isn't already at a big club and is coming off a really good season.
70 million is not the going rate, I think there have only been 3 players over 70 million. Grealish, Sancho and McGuire, not one of them worth that fee. I mean if Conte really wants him then I must bow to that, I don't think he's worth that though.

I agree. It was Emerson's first year at Tottenham, he got thrown at the deep end straight away vs Palace for Nuno after one training session and then had to play a new position (he has never played as a RWB before, apparently) when Conte took over.

Was he awful some games? Yes, definitely. However, from all accounts from journalists, people close to him and from what he has said in interviews himself, he is a highly consumate professional who strives to be the best.

I would not be surprised if Emerson becomes one of the better turn-around stories not only at Tottenham but in the Premier League.

He has the tools and the mental fortitude for it, and working with someone like Conte who likes players with his type of attitude and desire, I can totally see it happening.

I look forward to the moment where everyone starts apologising for ever wishing we sold Emerson.

Despite all this he's still severely lacking in the quality department.

When push comes to shove this is what makes the difference between winning and drawing/losing.

I like him as a person, but as a footballer I don't think he's at the level we need to be challenging for CL and PL.

That's not to say he doesn't have his uses, because against teams with good wingers I'd rather he play for the defensive stability. He's a better defender than Doherty and Spence. But that would mean he only plays a handful of games and from last season his best form came when he has a consistent run of games.

His form unsurprisingly will plummet being a bit part player.

I'll wait until Ali Gold says this is happening as it doesn't seem like a very smart thing to do.
Bizarre - our form when he was fit and as RWB in a system that suited him was impressive.

Not just the wins but the amount of goals we scored. 4-0 wins away at Leeds and Villa. Not saying we wouldn't have won without him but more likely 1-0 and nervy last 10 mins.

His first game missing was that awful 0-1 v Brighton, followed by pretty poor 0-0 at Brentford.

I'd be really disappointed to lose him.

Also - really good mates with Kane, they play a lot of golf.

Emerson can be a good squad player. His attitude is great. Some games we need that defensive aggression (eg Liverpool away last year). Also think his attacking limitations will be less painful for us now we have a very offensive Perisic on the left.

Hopefully Spence comes and makes the RWB spot his own, but if not Emerson can do a job and should get plenty of minutes anyway. I'd keep him over an aging Doherty if the plan is to sell one.

I think we'll have 3 WBs for each side otherwise you're only one injury away from having one of them playing 180 mins per week in a very physically demanding position.

I don't know if it's just me. But I think Emerson was one of our better players in the last 3 games. He linked up well with Deki and created lots of space for him with his continuous running. Ok there is work to do with his crossing but overall I would be happy if he stayed. I think he will be very good this season.

You're getting confused by going rate compared to what you think they are worth.

Fine if you think they are worth mush less which is a subjective argument but you need to go by the market and recent examples.
