We can bring home a cup as is. We don't need to add a top CB and AM. Unless it's the CL cup. :D
Yeah I just think that extra bit of quality depth would complete us and genuinely allow a push on all fronts.

Assuming the signings were Pau Torres and Maddison we could look like:

First XI:
Lloris
Romero - Dier - Torres
Spence --- Bentancur -- Bissouma -- Perisic
Kulusevski - Kane - Son

Second XI:

Forster
Sanchez - Lenglet - Davies
Doherty -- Skipp -- Hojberg --- Sess
Maddison
Richarlison -- Kulusevski
Having a second team like that would be fine against most teams in the cups and even in the PL with a couple of tweaks.

In the past we thought we had a good squad on paper but you could never really count on our backups to deliver (see all the horrible Europa League games as evidence).

I think your 2nd X1 shows we need back up for Kulusevski

Our fucking luck, we build a new stadium and covid hits. We go out and get good signings done early and the entire world comes to an end... :angryscouser:

What do people not understand it is not first XI, Second XI. It is about rotating players so we are likely to see about 15 different combination of players next season..

I think the dilemma is that Tanganga needs a consistent run of games so a loan would be good for him rather than play the odd game here and there.

But losing a club trained player for a season will leave us with one player short in our squad.

So its a balancing act, and may depend on us getting another HG player in to fill the minimum 4 HG players whilst leaving us with only 3 Club trained players and a total squad of 24 players.
Yeah I think Tanganga leaving would mean we would have to bring in another HG.

Don’t like Maddison. Even if his tweets were as a kid, he’s got an ingrained and deep rooted dislike of Spurs.
He’s also got a face made for punching.
However… there’s no denying he’s a quality player and if Conte has a plan for him, it seems like a good signing. Not sure I could ever warm to the fucker though unless he walked down the High Road butt naked with nothing more than a spurs scarf and a cockerel tattoo on his old fella.
How do you know he has? Do you know him?

What a pointless post.

No idea why people get hung up on this idea of 1st and 1nd XI being some terrible thing.

It is the best way to show a squad's depth. Of course I know 11 changes between games are very rare but it nevertheless displays the optionality to completely remove your 11 BEST PLAYERS FOR THEIR RESPECTIVE POSITION and still field a strong team.

Well not really.

It was less pointless than you making up a fictional 1st and 2nd XI.

The point being made was that we will make fluid changes, that's all. Hence no need for the fantasy manager lineups.

But surely you understand the point of showing what a second team could look like if we made 11 changes?

If you actually have a good squad then that 'fantasy' second XI will still look like a good team (as mine does above).
If you do not have a good squad then that 'fantasy' second XI will contain Winks and Sissoko etc. and bomb out against Europa League dross as we have seen countless times.
