I don't know why some of you lot even bother discussing the TW when you're never going to be content.

In the last 2 windows we've added 2 quality CMs, 2 FW's that could play and not decrease the level of the team, a big upgrade LWB, an improved back-up keeper, upgraded massively on Rodon and an exciting young RWB.

Nobody is disputing that there is more to do and Conte even stated he needs another couple of TWs. To rate this a 5.5 or 6/10 is laughable. Once our squad is fully fit just compare the first XI and bench to last season, the difference is night and day. The entitlement and expectation baffles me.

We've added only one player who is a clear upgrade to the XI. The overall squad has been improved but people expected more quality for the players who start week in, week out. There's a couple who might get there (Lenglet, Bissouma) but it's far from a guarantee.

7/10 window. But if someone said 6 I really don't think it would be laughable at all. We've kept spending pretty low. Like I've said before, we won't really know what it ranks as till much later .. but that's what I'd predict.

Results against the top 2 last season suggest our first XI isn't far off where it needs to be but the squad depth was abysmal. We're adding players like Richarlison, Bissouma, arguably Lenglet too, who can slot in without a reduction on the performance level. Seems like good business to me.

I mostly agree here, but the fact that we didn't add a permanent member at CB is a huge downgrade for me. Needed one more there for sure.
The window has improved us, yes....but is it enough for us to compete at or near the top? Don't think so.
Our depth is good, and it will be needed this year for sure.

He's been mentioned, and not talked about at any length because our main cb target this summer was for the left side. Would be a great rotation for Dier/Romero.

It was and it was isn't...... Loads of chatter here about replacing Dav, Rodon & Tanganga.

"We should sign Lacroix" wasn't on the lips of (m)any.

Good time to buy low on him, Wolfsburg were a mess last year.

What's gone on there?

Last season he was seen as a big-is money jewel that they refused to sell to us....... Now a last minute deadline day grab for a bottom half team?

We're stylistically suited to playing those teams. Sit in & break. Doesn't mean we can go toe to toe with them. Newcastle this season have given Liverpool & City excellent games but they're still miles off where they need to be.

These are good signings, not saying we haven't signed some solid players. But I think going in to this season with CL + Conte, people had higher expectations. Maybe you're right and that makes them entitled but I think people went in expecting more additions to our XI.

7/10. Was leaning 8/10 earlier but seeing as how none of the new signings are actually getting much time lowers the rating.

Royal played fine by his standards yesterday but because Sanchez was in for Romero, we could not pass the ball from the back. Dier+Sanchez+Royal means 3 players that can’t distribute well from the back and any club that lets us have the ball will cause us issues. If we don’t fix RWB, we have a lower ceiling. We’ll be a 4th place contender, CL QFs at best, and if we are lucky we can make a cup run. Then son will be 31 and Kane 30 next season.

Good window but we wanted to loan Gil, so there is no ambiguity in him staying.

It's not what Conte wanted, and if that translates to having no one on the pitch because Conte doesn't fancy Gil, then it's a waste of a place.

I still think Bissouma qualifies on that basis(*).... Shit pre-season has just slowed his integration.

(*This isn't just hot air from me; he's the player I've been most excited about all along.)

Come the end of the season we could well be talking about:

Hugo
Rom / Dier / Lenglet
Spence
/ Biss / Bentancur / Peri
Kulu / Kane / Rich

Then it will have proven to be a very different story.

Transfer window as whole - 7.25/10 :D

Last week - 1/10 :D - seriously though ?!? failed to get money for any of the outcasts ; failed to find upgrade on Gil, who I doubt will get much action this season; linked to players nowhere near our level ; no cleaver trick up our sleeve in TDD...

We've obviously had a good window but it's strange to me that we didn't have more a plan for replacing Gil.

I'm sure Conte made it clear early on that he wasn't up to snuff so why haven't we brought someone better in?

We are now stuck with a player Conte won't use and it will stunt Gil's development, if he is ever to become a PL ready player.

We were strongly linked to Zainolo so obviously an additional attacker was in mind but we really had no alternatives to the sick note?

Lucas and Gil are fine for early rounds of domestic cups but we basically only have Richarlison now as someone that can come on and change a game.

Yeah it is a bit weird because it’s seemed Gil has been on his way out for a month yet no real strong links of a replacement coming in.

All a bit strange as I don’t believe there’s no money available.

It is Laughable this is one of the first windows that we haven't wait around like headless chickens and actually got what we needed. Face it there is no first eleven there is a first fifteen and bar a CB and a proprer RB we got everything, Bissouma Perisic and richy will all improve as the season wears on lenglet and forester are good squad players and spensce and udogie is two more for the future. This is a progressive Tottenham transfer which is great, everyone here want us to be playing champagne football while beating everyone 3 nil and thats not realistic unless your city.

You can look at this in three ways:

I’m not sure we can say that until the new signings actually get some game time. There is zero evidence so far to say that lenglet won’t be an improvement on Davies or Bissouma on Hojbjerg or Spence on Doherty/Emerson. They may all have to play their way into the side but until they’ve had some games it’s impossible to know whether they are an upgrade or not.

Time and patience required I’m afraid.

Maybe Conte is hellbent on Zaniolo and will prefer to have a crack at him in Jan once he's on the mend?

Perhaps not been able to get a run at anyone else they fancy....?

As unlikely as the whole James link has been; I think it's safe to say he'd have been waaaaaaaaaay down any existing list.... In which case combine that with Gatusso's comments and I think it's likely we said "fuck it; let's keep Gil and see where we stand after the world cup".

In those games where we held our own against city and Liverpool our front 3 were on fire. The whole system is dependent on a few individuals all having a good day. Not much of a plan B. For me plan B is a world class creative midfielder but we all know that won't happen.

Perisic, Richarlison and Bissouma are top signings. (9.5/10)

Forster gives us a good back up keeper and addresses the HG issue. (8/10)

Lenglet provides depth at LCB but hardly improves on it. Davies was solid last season. (7/10)

As Conte said. Spence is a signing the club wanted. He’s one for the future although he looks promising and will likely get game time this season. (7/10)

Udogie, one for the future. (6/10)

Overall, a good window in terms of signings. To be considered a very good window we needed a starting CB, a RWB and to either have replaced Bergwijn or kept him as back up (although I imagine his attitude would have deteriorated if we had kept him).

These players either weren’t available or we weren’t willing to spend what was needed to sign them.

Overall; we’re stronger than we were this time last year.
