How we rating this window then?
Most of us still of the view that “well how can we improve these positions? There’s no one available?”
Funny how other teams - our competitors - identify targets, then sign them. We are incapable of that.
We haven’t addressed CB (x 2), RWB, CM, nor the lack of creativity.
Man City, Man Utd, Woolwich, Chelsea have signed players to improve their first teams. We aren’t able to do that because “no one’s available”.
Another pathetic window. Another window where we have been out spent by almost 50% of the league.
So much for backing Conte.
Our defensive transfers: a player who isn’t here, a player who can’t make the squad, a player on loan who has been dreadful for 24 months and who’s parent club want shot of him; and a (granted, talented) wing back who we got on a free but who we will get a max of 2 years out of. And we still have Dier, Davies, Sanchez starting games. It’s astonishing.
They've done some good work :

* Forster on a free, releasing Gollini - Home Grown space for GK is a no-brainer
* Perisic - proven quality, would walk into most teams even at his age
* Bissouma - will need time to settle, but on last year's form is an upgrade on any of our CM's, box to box player weve needed for ages
* Spence looks lively
* Richarlison is a great (if costly) signing
* Finally getting shot of players who dont want to be here or who arent good enough, on loan or otherwise

And not so good...

* Lenglet - clearly only signed as Bastoni wasnt obtainable for whatever reason, not exactly been good for Barca - cover only
* Not flogging Royal or Doherty so we can have one of them and Spence then getting gametime as an understudy
* Gaping hole in the ACM role still not addressed
* Dier is our only real option at the centre of the back 3

What is the bit I dont understand is that the manager clearly greenlit all these signings and so far only really seems to trust Perisic, who he obviously knows from before. Its good we have a better squad now, but what point is there in signing players who then dont play? It is early days yet so hopefully they will all get a chance soon.

5.5-6/10 from me for the window based on the above, its difficult to say one way or the other given most of the signings barely have minutes to their names... and we are 3rd

So they're after the players we were linked with last summer. Coincidence?

We've obviously had a good window but it's strange to me that we didn't have more a plan for replacing Gil.

I'm sure Conte made it clear early on that he wasn't up to snuff so why haven't we brought someone better in?

We are now stuck with a player Conte won't use and it will stunt Gil's development, if he is ever to become a PL ready player.

We were strongly linked to Zainolo so obviously an additional attacker was in mind but we really had no alternatives to the sick note?

Lucas and Gil are fine for early rounds of domestic cups but we basically only have Richarlison now as someone that can come on and change a game.

Yeah pretty strange outcome considered all we hear is that Paratici has many plates spinning at once.

There isn't a single deal out there he can close?

Overall I'm happy with what we've done. I believe that the club is still massively rebuilding in terms of players and that this has been an ongoing thing since last summer. It's still gonna take another 2 windows to really get to where we wanna be imo.

Realistically whilst City and Liverpool are in the position they are I don't think winning the league is achievable, its shit but unfortunately due to City's money and Liverpools building over 7 years under Klopp top 4 and a trophy would be a good achievement for us this season.

So that's it then...
Little disappointed about the right wing back situation but I haven't seen Spence at his best yet so that could change. Also we do lack flair and creativity in mf IMHO. I would have liked to see more deadwood go also. After Bissouma's sub par performance yesterday I realise he's going to take a while to settle in and he was my favourite addition to the squad. I really can't stand Richarlison but he's a also an excellent addition. Personally this is a 7/10 window imo. I don't see us challenging for the trophy or the CL but we should maintain our top 4 with a bit of luck. We just have to keep an eye on Chelsea and Woolwich. City with Haaland are going to be rampant. Liverpool are getting back to form and I think Yanited are going to come good so it might be a bit of a scramble.

7/10...could do better...see me after school.

We will not be a real contender for the league this season. Conte himself has said this is a project and it will take 2-3 windows.
Depending on how Liverpool steady up; I think 2 - 4 will be fascinating this season.

Going from 4th to making City sweat in one window never seemed realistic to me..... I was concerned that Conte wouldn't be satisfied with that outlook, but he seems comfortable with the idea that we had more than one window's worth of work to do so on we push.

I agree with both of you...

But at the same time - Son is 30, Kane is 29 and Conte does not stay for the long term.
There is no guarantee how long can we benefit from those conditions really.

We have made really good deals in this window, but I think considering how limited window we are talking about, we could have taken the risk and try some more. I think two players that could have made difference and cost 100 mil combined would have been Botman (moved for 37 mil to Newcastle) and Maddisson (I think we would have got him for 63 mil). This could have completed our dealings, even if we have Royal, Doherty and Spence to pick from in RWB position... now it feels we've done reasonable amount of changes, but if we would have pushed it bit more...

Funny; he was hot-shit on here last summer..... Not a peep about him this summer from anyone.

Cue tommyboyspurs tommyboyspurs : "We should have been in for him" meme. 🤡
He's been mentioned, and not talked about at any length because our main cb target this summer was for the left side. Would be a great rotation for Dier/Romero. Good time to buy low on him, Wolfsburg were a mess last year.

I don't know why some of you lot even bother discussing the TW when you're never going to be content.

In the last 2 windows we've added 2 quality CMs, 2 FW's that could play and not decrease the level of the team, a big upgrade LWB, an improved back-up keeper, upgraded massively on Rodon and an exciting young RWB.

Nobody is disputing that there is more to do and Conte even stated he needs another couple of TWs. To rate this a 5.5 or 6/10 is laughable. Once our squad is fully fit just compare the first XI and bench to last season, the difference is night and day. The entitlement and expectation baffles me.

The window itself is good to great (7.5/10 at LEAST) but we’ve only upgraded one first team position in Perisic. Spence for all the fanfare is hardly making the bench, he is persisting with Royal. No top CB either.

My frustration comes in knowing that Conte has no need for a passing midfielder and has essentially made his bed in us being a 2-man midfield, hit teams on the break, type of side. We will be frustrated with more and more goalless draws and dropped points without more creativity off the bench and I guarantee it will come back to bite us. Richly and Bissouma will need to step up and be huge contributors for me to say this window is a big success. Still a good window though all told.
