It was and it was isn't...... Loads of chatter here about replacing Dav, Rodon & Tanganga.

"We should sign Lacroix" wasn't on the lips of (m)any.

What's gone on there?

Last season he was seen as a big-is money jewel that they refused to sell to us....... Now a last minute deadline day grab for a bottom half team?
Coaching change, Glasner left for Frankfurt and Niko Kovac took over. Team shape out of possession last year was a mess apparently.. what bits I saw last season Lacroix wasn't too bad but didn't look as assured in possession as the year before. What that's down to I don't know, whether it's his own faults or those around him.

I'm gonna launch my own scam Spurs website.

I’m not sure we can say that until the new signings actually get some game time. There is zero evidence so far to say that lenglet won’t be an improvement on Davies or Bissouma on Hojbjerg or Spence on Doherty/Emerson. They may all have to play their way into the side but until they’ve had some games it’s impossible to know whether they are an upgrade or not.

Time and patience required I’m afraid.

Yeah I agree. We won't really know for a while. But I can see why, on the face of it, people might be a bit underwhelmed currently as there aren't any clear & simple 'he comes in and is a big upgrade' signings apart from Perisic.

That doesn't necessarily make it a bad window at all, just an uncertain one.

It is Laughable this is one of the first windows that we haven't wait around like headless chickens and actually got what we needed. Face it there is no first eleven there is a first fifteen and bar a CB and a proprer RB we got everything, Bissouma Perisic and richy will all improve as the season wears on lenglet and forester are good squad players and spensce and udogie is two more for the future. This is a progressive Tottenham transfer which is great, everyone here want us to be playing champagne football while beating everyone 3 nil and thats not realistic unless your city.

There is absolutely a first XI and most teams in the league show that every single week. What did Liverpool do when they got the Coutinho money? Straight in for Van Djik and Alisson. Bang, two huge upgrades in two problem areas. First XI every single week without fail.

When fully fit most teams have a clear starting XI, even City only shuffle a few positions. And I think there's such a massive difference between expecting champagne football/winning 3-0 every week and the performances the team are putting in right now.

Hard to rate this window fully until we see what Spence and Lenglet offer over the coming months. If Bissouma finds his groove, Spence makes himself first choice at some stage and Lenglet plays well enough to share gametime with Davies then the window will have been a very good one.

I think we're all fairly unanimous about Perisic and Richarlison being positive signings.

That breed of certainty doesn't bring with it any tangible guarantees either tho.

(See summer '19)

Taking a squad view I think we are a LOT better.

I feel like Spence is the key.

We have an excellent spine of the team but are lacking the critical ingredient that makes a Conte team tick; dynamic WBs that aggressively progress the ball.

It’s going to be a long old season if we stick with this stodgy 3/4/3.

I'm Sorry bro although your points are reasonable you cannot look in my face as a spurs fan and give this window a six.

It's absolutely whataboutery FFS. You've not even approached my point, you've JUST deflected. Feel free to address my point and THEN tell me how hypocritical you think I am. Then you wouldn't be full of shit on this one.

And garrulous or not, 7 posts in 4 years combined with that latest screams multi.

And so you know, Airfixx follows me around this board negging me or up-voting those I'm in disagreement with...and it is for that reason (amongst a million others where he's shown himself to be a PLC) that he is immortalized under my avatar. And now Raumdeuterz is immortalized under there as well because, like you, instead of confronting my point head on he decided to deflect with some nonsense about being anti-English...and now you see him agreeing with your post, right? He's doing the same petty little man nonsense. And it is for that reason they will remain.

So be better than those two PLCs...because, unlike them, I appreciate the shit you write.
Your horribly over invested in this and badly need to get some perspective. Airfix follows you round the board, another posters 'immortalized' your counting people you don't know posts, who cares if its a 'multi'...man Come on now it's a bit scary how seriously overwrought that all is. We can all get a bit like this, then a refresh and a break helps. As for your point, I'm not obliged to read it let alone answer it. I'll politely leave you to it as it's seems way more important to you than I'd suspected and I'd not want to knowingly cause you distress.

think we also need a better back three , not just a better RWB when we play 3:4:3 with 2 defensive midfielders.

those 3 CBs need to be able to play. Sanchez is a very good defender but weak in possession. Many a time Ham players closed him down resulting in a point up the field and back to the Opposition. And when not pressured it was often simple ball to royal who at this point would already be under pressure .

The same is true of Davies and Dier, not great passers, not great when pressured usually resulting in a hopeful punt.

I didn't, I said a seven. I just said I wouldn't see someone else giving it a six and think it was totally unreasonable .. a bit harsh for sure.

It's all very arbitrary though and giving numbered ratings to windows this early doesn't work. But if we're ranking it by how outwardly impressive it's meant to be I think a 7 is fair .. an 8 if you're an optimist and a 6 if you're a pessimist.

How we rating this window then?
Most of us still of the view that “well how can we improve these positions? There’s no one available?”
Funny how other teams - our competitors - identify targets, then sign them. We are incapable of that.
We haven’t addressed CB (x 2), RWB, CM, nor the lack of creativity.
Man City, Man Utd, Woolwich, Chelsea have signed players to improve their first teams. We aren’t able to do that because “no one’s available”.
Another pathetic window. Another window where we have been out spent by almost 50% of the league.
So much for backing Conte.
Our defensive transfers: a player who isn’t here, a player who can’t make the squad, a player on loan who has been dreadful for 24 months and who’s parent club want shot of him; and a (granted, talented) wing back who we got on a free but who we will get a max of 2 years out of. And we still have Dier, Davies, Sanchez starting games. It’s astonishing.
