It's the sort of thing you have to be careful with, with Conte in charge. He's never been a long term manager anywhere, and likely won't be here even if we back him. He's got a 1 year deal, if we win something and push on maybe he signs on for a further 2 years? He's not got much motivation to keep Gil about to develop, if he can sell him to add more cash to his spending spree.
If it wins us some trophies, I doubt we'll care too much a few years from now where Gil is.

Well Conte sent him away saying he was not a PL player and I doubt his one assist for Valencia will have done much to change his mind. Either we cash in on him now or he gets another loan, he is clearly not ready to play regularly for Conte at CL level.

I'd figured Bremer would play into this. Spurs will step aside if Inter act reasonably with Bastoni. If we don't get Bastoni or he goes to United or whatever, we go both barrels on the Bremer front and see how they like it.
