Transfers Summer 2022 Transfer Thread.

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Hasn't Madison made it plainly clear in the past he doesn't like Spurs?
Why even bother pursuing a player who doesn't like us?
Even if he didn't hate Spurs, he's part of the Dele, Grealish, Barkley gang, they're not serious footballers.

Moody, inconsistent, and far too soft for what we need.

I hope we approach this transfer window methodically, not just getting guys who are good that are available that could upset the balance of the squad.

The main things we need are:
- An attacking right wing back with technical quality that is capable of playing the type of balls Doherty does ( sell Emerson)
- A box-to-box midfielder with a better eye for a pass than Hojbjerg but works extremely hard (sell Winks)
- A left sided centre back, good in the air, capable of playing long passes
- A back up to Kane, Ideally this is someone who is creative. Eye for a pass and could potentially play AM when Kane is fit but also lead the line if/when Kane is injured (sell Lucas or Bergwijn)

I also think that Conte isn't a fan of Reguilon and Sess (why else would you play Doherty at LWB) so if he sells Reguilon
- An attacking left back who isn't injury prone, essentially exactly what we need on the right

With our best two players Son and Kane also turning 30 in the next 14 months, we also need to make sure these guys all have age on their side so that they can be part of our next generation alongside the likes of Romero, Kulusevski, Bentancur and Skipp.

There's guys out there like Dybala and even Bale who I'm sure would get me excited if they came, but ideally we need to be clever and highlight our weaknesses - this is a squad severely lacking in depth with a few guys that are pretty injury prone so we need to be smart.

This for me is a VVD moment if this is the player Conte wants no matter how settled he is there we should over pay to make it happen. We have a lovely history with Croatian players too. Gvardiol and Singo get it done Levy, show Conteypu are serious.
I wish Paratici had listened to me last summer window and bought him then  I have always maintained that he was my 1st choice LCB (and got "emoji laughed" at for stating so.... poor me 😁)
My only problem with Gvardiol is that if he should join Spurs and live up to his "hype" either Man. City or Real M. will buy him off Spurs.
He would cost around £50-60m, and I could see PSG coming in for him, or even Chelski (if the takeover goes thru) or Man Utd.

Both Reguilon and Sessegnon had just recently recovered from injuries and were doubtful for the game vs Villa. That was the reason for Doherty starting as LWB.
My main concern about Sessegnon is that he's so injury-prone. Every time he starts to find his form he gets injured and at the age where he's now he needs to play regularly to become a quality LWB. So, with that in mind Spurs may need a 3rd backup LWB if he keeps getting injured (unless he's sold, of course)

Hmmm I'd not worry about that too much about losing him the last time City came knocking it didn't happen. If they do it means he is playing on beast mode that would be in addition to Kane Son Romeo Kulu...which in turn would mean we are probably on the cusp of the title. Its a problem I'd love...

We need to act like we did in the Summer 19.... i.e. Nothing but 1st choice targets will do.

(*But getting the scouting right this time!)

I don't know I feel like he doesn't trust Reguilon, even when he was picking Sess over him (I know he had COVID for a bit) but I just have a feeling he's not a fan seeing he's not been nailed on despite us lacking a quality LWB. Long term I think Davies could also cover as a LWB in an emergency if both of them were out and we had someone better in that LCB position.

He brought Reg on ahead of Sess vs Villa tho'.

most exciting summer ever if we get top 4 which we should do from this position. get rid of the last bits of dead wood and give conte a war chest he deserves. title challenge next year. exciting times!
