TOTTENHAM are emerging as favourites to sign Blackburn's England youth centre-back Ashley Phillips - in a deal worth up to £3million.
The 16-year-old has been a stand-out for the Rovers' youth sides, impressing particularly in the Premier League 2 this season.

Manchester United and Chelsea have also been tracking the young defender.

Phillips' contract expires in 2023, however it is believed Spurs are ready to get the deal done as quickly as possible.

The North London side are looking to get the deal done for around £3m.

Phillips- who is 6ft4in tall - has received plaudits for his dominant PL2 performances, earning himself regular training time with the Blackburn first team.

With Conte squads built on strong foundations at the back, acquiring young stars who have already drawn comparisons to Virgil van Dijk could be the sign of very smart business in North London.

On Saturday night, his Spurs side defended resolutely as they earned a point against quadruple-chasing Liverpool at Anfield.

Brighton transfer news: Euro giants join Tottenham in ‘£17m’ Brighton chase, Woolwich ‘close in’ on £40m Leicester City star

Brighton’s 4-0 thrashing of Manchester United at The Amex saw another impressive performance from 20-year-old Moises Caicedo in midfield.

Caicedo opened the scoring against United, drilling a low effort into the bottom corner from the edge of the box, leaving David De Gea no chance, and setting the Seagulls on their way to a famous win.
Even without the goal Caicedo impressed. Composed in midfield, and able to make passing look easy, but perhaps Caicedo’s most impressive trait is his ability to control the midfield against such high calibre opposition, having put in notable performances against this United side, and away to Woolwich.
A Manchester United midfield which consisted of Nemanja Matic, Scott McTominay, Juan Mata, and Bruno Fernandes could not lay a glove on the youngster.
Caicedo is said to be a Man United and the Old Trafford were reportedly interested in the signing the Ecuador international before Brighton made their decisive move last January.
As you would expect, his manager Graham Potter has been very impressed with what he’s seen.
“I think he must think the Premier League’s easy because of his results, and we’ve been fantastic since he’s been in there.
“He’s a humble guy, fantastic boy, and we’re so happy for him.”
“He’s a good young player and I’m sure he’s got lots of people looking at him so we’re delighted that we’ve got him.”
At such a young age, Caicedo’s ability to remain unfazed in the middle of the pitch against any level of team is something which makes him such an exciting prospect.
Speaking on the youngster’s temperament, Potter isn’t surprised that he seems nerveless, having shown himself to be a cool and patient character.
“He’s had to be patient, and we’ve had to find the right time to play him, I think he was ready before in fairness, but we’d done ok as a team and it was just hard to get him in the side, and then we started to lose and I didn’t think it was the right time to put him in then.
“You can see his quality, he’s going to get better and better.”

Tottenham transfer news: Antonin Barak decision looms as £17m man attracts big Serie A suitor

Napoli have joined Tottenham in the transfer hunt for Hellas Verona midfielder Antonin Barak this summer, according to a report.

Spurs are facing a pivotal end to the season, with their Champions League fate sure to affect their deal hopes. Antonio Conte’s side sit fifth in the Premier League, four points behind Woolwich.

Manager Conte reportedly wants as many as six new signings to bolster his team ahead of next season.

And his midfield has subsequently become a key area of attention. Tottenham signed Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus in January and he has proved a solid addition so far.

According to Corriere della Sera, Spurs are still in the hunt for Verona’s attacking midfielder Barak.

However, several Premier League teams are eyeing a raid on the Serie A club. What’s more, Bundesliga sides – which the report does not name – are also keen.

But Czech Republic international Barak could yet stay in Italy, with Napoli furthermore becoming a potential transfer suitor for him.

There is doubt as to whether Spanish star Fabian Ruiz will stay in Naples, hence the interest in Barak.

There are so many clubs signing quality midfielders who are able resist a press, dribble a bit and pass but we've been limbered with ndombele, lo celso, peh, winks and to an extent bentancur.

Not one of them close to the level we need.

too similar with kulusevsky

Would love us to get him, think Conte could get him into his international form

A mate of mine worked with him at his first club, when he was a youth player. What I'm told is that everyone at the club was convinced, he was truly going places. Not because he has insane ability, but because his work ethic and desire to learn every facet of the game was off the charts. A Conte kinda player :contepray:
