than furthering his career.
I meant it's not like he was playing for Bologna or some mediocre side. He was playing for Juve, who had just signed De Ligt at the time (we were linked with Dybala in the 2019 summer if I remember correctly), and had shown tremendous ambition to win the Champions League with Dybala and CR7 as the 2 main pieces of the project.

More seriously, if - and it's a big if - we sign him, I would think, it would mean Conte is going 3-5-2. If Conte's previous statement that Kane is undropable then that would leave Dybala, Son and Kulu fighting for one place. Maaaaybe two against weaker teams, where it'll be closer to 3-4-1-2.

I agree that he doesn't really fit into our current formation, but firstly Conte isn't only known to play this one, and secondly not every signing is necessarily improving the first 11, which is fine imo.

Indeed, but from both a player and club perspective (the latter being wages), Dybala ain't coming to be no bench player.

He was out of favour at the time though; hense being offered about for sale... Whether or not that was part of the drive to finance CR7 I can't recall, but Plan A wasn't Dybala + CR7.

When we sign another attacker I'd like it to be somebody younger, quicker and less injury prone than Dybala. Still, think it's a bit odd for people to think he wouldn't play effectively at RW in a 3-4-3.

It's more a case of him having never done so. TM shows his as always playing centrally.

Yeah, Dybala is coming for huge wages & to be a starting player. I'm not a fan of him on the wing but he's definitely a better player than Kulu so would be an upgrade on the right. But with his injury record/the wages I don't think you can weigh it up and say it's worth the risk.

I'd be happier taking another punt on Bale for a year and I'm not particularly sold on that idea either......

Yeh, we already have the grunt and graft covered....

We need someone who can make the ball stick and break a press.... Then add Eriksen on a freebie as a utility man.

I'm convinced that the way fwd is:

[insert new main man]
Skipp
B'cur
PEH
+ Eriksen
+ Kulu
Agree. Expensive but i'd say Ruben Neves as a deep lying playmaker. Just adds something different, we have the grafters. Throw in Eriksen and a couple of good wing backs and our creativity is sorted

I’m not as enamoured as some seem to be with him. I think he’s benefitting greatly from not being Moura, which is understandable, 4 years of human pin ball will do that to you.

He’s definitely more composed than Moura, which is a plus, and he’s got some physical heft when it comes to protecting the ball, but Kilusevski only seems to have amble as a speed setting, and doesn’t seem to have the pace or technique to actually dribble past people or, at least, stay past them.

He’s brought something different, but I’m yet to be blown away.
Yes he can't stay past people, not pacey at all. I think plusses are his technique, composure and brain, he usually takes the right or good option with his pass. Can jink his way out of a tight spot too. Also his right foot is decent which is a plus. Quite strong like you said and mature for a youngster. He'd probably be better suited to a 10 or 8 role, he seems fairly disciplined tracking back.

Your favourite at City, Jack Wankhorn, is probably a bit quicker but I'd rather have Kulu which is interesting when you consider their age and cost (I realise English talent costs more but still).

Kulu's stats are very good considering his limitation, he'd probably get even more space if we had a proper RWB. I'd keep him personally and see how he develops, his age means he'll hopefully improve and if his progress stalls we'd get our money back at least I reckon, probably turn a profit. It's nice to have some brains back in the team at least.

Dybala isn't the type of player we need. He's a weapon and will throw his toys out the pram sooner rather than later. Not to mention he's injury hit. Benching Kulusevski for that throbber would be a terrible decision. Kulu will only improve by playing games.

We should go all out for Bellingham if Liverpool don't go in for him, as we wouldn't stand a chance if we were to go head to head with them. He's the type of player you can build your team around for years to come. Get rid of Lo Celso and Winks, that would cover half of his fee. Though he seems determined to stay another season at Dortmund from what I can gather, and they won't be keen to sell after they've just lost Haaland. Imagine Skipp, Bentancur and Bellingham in midfield in the near future, that's pretty tasty.

Oh, I know, and I'm not advocating spunking our budget on the bench per se.

Take Liverpool; after plugging clear holes with Alisson, VDV and Fabinho, they moved on to secure signings in Jota and now Diaz, that gives (real) options in an attacking area, where the manager may pick players based on the specific opponent and form of the individual players.

We have 2, 3, maybe 4 holes to plug. The next step would be to have real options for rotation and off the bench with the players up top. Doing both in the summer would be optimistic, but I'm pretty confident that's what Conte is demanding of Levy. I like Lucas and will forever love him for Amsterdam, but we'll struggle with him as our primary alternative. If Kane, Son, and Kulu have to play 60ish matches next season, we're in trouble.

The chance for Tottenham to get Bellingham was when he was at Birmingham.

Not sure it’s been posted but interesting argument.

Every time I've listened to that guy (Jordan), I've been impressed. Straight talker and seems pretty level-headed and unbiased, as far as I can tell.

Nice to hear the media calling out the red-top bullshit about us. But, to be fair, they do do it to most teams at one point or another. Just seems we're an easy target most of the time and/or they side with the usual suspects.
