No, it doesn't suggest that. I think we need 4 quality attacking options, even if we play the minimum number of games, because there are also injuries to consider. I was just pointing out that it's highly unlikely we will play 60+ games, as you suggested, and offered a number I think we'll end up playing. That's all, really. Nothing more to read into it than that.

ok but I think we need to plan to play as many games as we can - and not be limited by player availability, and hence the calculations to work out how many games we might need to play and hence that if we do go deep then both Kane and Son need back up (as well as Kulusevski) ...... and my guess is Moura and Bergwijn is too much of a drop in quality plus Bergwijn seems likely to move on.

All of which suggests a good quality 4th attacker to cover Kane/Son and their goals , and even a 5th attacker to potentially replace Bergwijn, possibly another a wide player.

Conte is a win now kinda guy, so I think Gvardiol is a year or two away from what we should be signing.
Fair point, but he does seem to be our second choice.

I like the idea of Lisandro Martinez a lot.. I'm starting to think he'd be my pick outside of Bastoni.
But we aren’t linked with him, maybe because of height? Maybe because Ajax won’t sell both CBs?

I'm quite intrigued as well, but I haven't seen many Ajax games, and he doesn't start for Argentina over Otamendi, which is a pretty bad sign.

From what I've seen he can really ping the ball about, but what about actual defending?

I don't disagree with that and I sure hope we play 60+ games next season.

We all love to bash mourinho but that man put an ungodly amount of effort into getting Ndombele working.

If it didn't work after all that, what hope is there for him?

Ndombele strikes me as a player than needs a team built around him . We were never going to do that with Kane and Son in the squad and Lyon weren't going to do that with a player on loan.

He wants to play the game his way; and not follow instructions from the coach.

United had the same dilemma with Pogba. Not a play maker, not a striker and too self important to put a defensive shift in.

If a team is willing to make him the main man, they may get a tune out of him; but I am really not clear what position this style of footballer fits in modern disciplined football.
