LOL.... You posted some rambling essay that no-one in their right might bothered to read in full.

If you've got this nailed then why overlook the facts about Conte himself... As an EPL manager???

2 cent brain?

Da fuck does that even mean?

Maybe where you come from brains are for sale..... If so, I hope you kept the receipt.

You do love a good mindless ramble, don't you.

The post you first responded to suggested we could close the gap..... You posted a huge essay and a load of fluff about money Liverpool have spent and long term-building; insinuating that the gap is too big and you are now bickering over tedious non-points when, ultimately, you concur that we can close the gap afterall?

Yeh, my intelligence is def. the issue here.
When the guy has almost as many disagrees as posts, ignore is the best option.

In Conte's system the main purpose of the 2 CM's is defensive - goals/assists from them are a bonus. If we played a creative CM in a 2 man system, we'd lose control as one CM would often be upfield leaving just one back.

The creative bit is mainly coming from wing backs - hence the need to upgrade these this summer.
Completely disagree. Firstable Wing-backs are still typical backs but with a bit more skill set needed. But that doesn't include the vision. In Conte formation they give you more depth/width and are creating advantage with the winger/attacker. Also to deliver great crosses, on top of plenty of energy to play on both sides.
They won't give you what a top CM will bring to the table.
And we are talking about CM, not CAM. We won't lose any control.

Any of the Modric, Kroos, Xavi, Pirlo, Xabi, Vidal, Cesc Fabregas, Gundogan type of players are very creative, and build the game for the team, but they are also a hard workers in the defense part. I can call them laborers, as don't know the exact word on English, as i'm native, but there is a word for them on my language. ^^

Also world class creative CM, gives us option to play 3-5-2.

We suffer heavily last season because of that, and that obvious from the sky against tight playing teams.
Kane was having to go in our side to takes the ball out and build our game.
It was terrible in a lot of matches.

Conte has use such players in every team he was.
Fabregas in Chelsea, Brozovic, Barella in Inter, Pirlo, Vidal and Pogba in Juventus.

Saying that he doesn't use that type of player is just not true. Now we can argue if we can qualify Bentancur as such, and if he is good enough to carry us through the season.

For most clubs the transfer window opens. Fabio on the other hand:

Been playing with injuries all year that he probably shouldn't have been. Never got the rotation he needed:

IMO that's part of the transfer window objectives - to get a squad with genuine alternative players to rotate without too much drop off in quality.

So next season for CM's its any two from four to start - Bissouma, Bentancur, Skipp and Hojbjerg - with the other two on the bench means we shouldn't need to ask an injured player with a knock to play..

Also, no way that we go the whole season without one or two key players missing significant game time with injury.

Last season Bentacur saved us from disaster when Skipp was injured. I'd still like to see Eriksen brought in.

Someone like Mcneil who would likely be happy with minimal game time, as well as two CBs.

According to CalcioMercatoWeb, Juventus could offer Merih Demiral to Tottenham this summer in exchange for Sergio Reguilon.

The report reveals that Atalanta have decided not to take up the option to sign Demiral permanently following his loan spell at Bergamo, with the centre-back set to return to Turin.

However, the 24-year-old is said to not be in Massimiliano Allegri’s plans, with Juve planning to cash in on him this summer.

It is said that Spurs hold an interest in the Turkish international and that the North London club could try to snap him up this summer following their signings of Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski in January.

Juve are also allegedly keen on signing Reguilon, with the Old Lady identifying the Spaniard as a potential replacement for Alex Sandro.

CalcioMercatoWeb add that the Serie A giants could propose a straight-swap between Reguilon and Demiral, with both players valued at around €25m (£21.4m).

Spurs Web Opinion

If Juve do make such an offer, Spurs will likely be tempted to accept it. We know that Reguilon is surplus to requirements and that Paratici rates Demiral, having been the man who took the Turk to Turin in the first place.

Spurs are going to need a centre-back to cover for Eric Dier and Cristian Romero, with Davison Sanchez and Joe Rodon looking like they could be on their way out of the club this summer.
Nevermind.

Agree, that was my point, I think we need even one more.

An Eriksen-type makes the most sense as we can rotate and also go to a midfield 3 with an attacking option if there's injuries up front as well.

If we have room in the squad for Eriksen we have the ability to play 352 in some games, but unless we have 2 of them we will not be able to play that in all games, just too many games. And with our HG limitations we will probably have a squad of maximum 23 implying 2 players per position plus a 3rd GK, meaning its difficult to play 2 formations.

ATM the choice of incoming wing backs (Perisic and Spence strongly suggests that they will be providing the creativity.

Eriksen I like as he could play in a cm3 or in more of an attacking role. But with a limit on squad numbers, I think we can only squeeze in one Eriksen type (ie no rotation option), meaning Conte chooses to play him in specific matches eg to change to 352 in some but not all matches next season

38 games 0 goals 1 assist on the wing last season

i always find the love in for him overrated
Burnley used dinosaur tactic with him as traditional winger. If we're to buy him, there is no doubt he would be converted to wing back, not back up for our attackers.

I don't see the negative from his non productivity from last season. Low productivity helps our negotiation. We can use it to hard bargain for a low price. It is a potential tree fiddy deal similar t how we bought Trippier from Burnley back in the day.

We're buying potential wing back, which we need to look deeper than last season. He got an impressive breakthrough season with 5 assists in equivalent of 18 games. His assist rate is around 5 per season beside last season. Unfair comparison here, but Trippier as full back/wing back best assist tally in the league is 6. If McNeil can recover his number while become a wing back, he would be decent squad player for us. Here I only expect Ben Davies level of squad player if we sign McNeil.

I think we see where we are later in the window as to what positions we still want to fill, but I think we could possibly do better than McNeil, possibly with Keane Lewis-Potter (13 goals 4 assists last season) who I think has a higher ceiling

More detailed update

Is this the SpursCommunity itk that isn't as blatantly fraudulent as the rest?

If we sign Bremer I think we'd still need a lcb, but he's a monster. Anybody who's bored and craving football over the summer should watch Torino vs Napoli from early last season.. great battle between Osimhen and Bremer which showed the best of both players.

Ok I’m going to say …. I think doh had a good few games and finally looked like a player I recognized at wolves

However I didn’t think he was as good as the hype …. I thought he was good

I did not however think he was good on the left. Like at all …. I didn’t blame him for that because it’s the wrong side of the pitch for him

But according to the experts on here peresic is right footed

So for me I can’t include doh as a good LWB option

Rwb. Doh / Spence

Lwb. ??? / Sess

Peresic the option (and most likely first choice on the left)

So yeah I would prefer another LWB

Doh would merely be an emergency option on the left..... Which still leaves Perisic & Sess as 1 & 2.

Perisic, whilst regarded as two-footed, has played over 200 games on the left at Inter and only 9 on the right.....

He's not merely an "option"; he's blatantly been brought in to be #1 LWB.
