Transfers Summer 2022 Transfer Thread.

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Don't get too carried away chaps. We wangled 4th last season with shrewd Jan transfers and the bottling of Woolwich. Most seasons we wouldn't have finished 4th.

I think a good summer means that we compete better in the top 4 next season and try our luck at a cup.
Bollocks to that. We should be going for the league and the CL and fielding reserve teams in the domestic cups.

I grant you we're still a bit behind Liverpool and Man City but if we focus on only two competitions we can reduce that gap. Kane and Son are pushing 30 and Conte's contract ends next summer; if we're going to do something with them, it's got to be now.

Don’t make me post the average point total for 4th place. Stop making stuff up.

Oh wait I couldn’t help myself. With 71 points, we’d have finished 4th in the previous 3 seasons and 5 of the last 7. I stopped checking by that point.

Or Liverpool regress as the team grows older - which is entirely possible. I reckon that they'll be some way of the level they were at last season
Bear in mind a lot of them have asthma too

Haaland, Mbappe, Lautaro Martinez, Osimhen, Vlahovic.

Don't tell the Dippers 👌?
Yeah to be fair Nunez is there too. Mbappe and Håland are on a tier by themselves and the other four are on the second tier and all pretty even.

Though Nunez has had one elite year in Portugal whereas Lautaro and Osimhen are on year 4 and 3 of top level performance in top 5 European leagues. Also already top level internationals in good sides whereas Nunez is still making his way into the Uruguay side.

Klopp is the best developer of talent in the world unfortunately so I’m sure he’ll get the most out of Nunez though.

Osimhen looks way better than Latauro and is much cheaper too. It's going to be like signing a young Drogba, hoping spurs are secretly negotiating for Osimhen while Latauro is the smokescreen.

Conte did say he wants a physically big striker and that is not Latauro

It's still up to the player himself, I guess he's not happy with Minamino.

What is cheaper? How much do you think it would cost to get him?

Conte isn't looking to finish forth, third or even second. He has said as much many, many times; "I'm not used to fighting for a top four place, I'm used to winning".

Don't you get the feeling that things are different right now?

we been trying that the last few seasons (playing first 11 in the league & second 11 in cups) and the second 11 never showed up
we are now trying to get a strong first team squad that is inter-changable (hopefully with a manager that understands how to play using 5 subs) rather than have 2 different teams as we had in the past

Swap Eriksen for Raphinha (we don't actually need Bremer neither since Dier/Sanchez work perfectly fine for that position, even if Bremer is that good) and that's a squad tailor made to Conte ready to fight for the title.

Lloris
Forster

Doherty
Spence

Romero
Dier
Sanchez
Tanganga
Torres
Davies

Perisic
Sessegnon

Bissouma
Skipp
PEH
Bentancur

Son
Kane
Richarlison
Kulusevski
Raphinha

That's a 23-man squad of dreams.
That’s only 21 players, no?

I don’t think we can underestimate what the effect of the WC cup is going to have on a condensed season with matches coming thick and fast. Very conceivable that previously ever present players will suffer more niggles and fatigue and availability will be an issue.

anyone checked how the squad now looks with regards to HG players etc for league & CL ?
with regards to world Cup maybe worth thinking about loan players from non WC teams ?

I'm talking about saving that strong, interchangeable, first team squad for the league and the CL and treating the domestic cups as reserve games i.e. we don't field a single player from our first team squad and fully expect to go out of those competitions in the early stages.

LTTP here from the earlier chat, but those saying we can't catch Liverpool or City take note that we didn't lose to either last season. Our points deficit to the two wasn't points lost to them; it's a lack of consistency, shit results against United and Chelsea (both occasions) and the Southampton fixtures etc. we won't catch them and win the league obviously after a single window, but shoring up those games we lost (what 11?) gets us closer.

I disagree, think that (having 2 teams in one squad) just hasn't worked for us maybe its that our second 11 players were mentally weak and could handle being second 11,
5 sub's makes a big differance on gametime for players
City have manage the first squad match time over the last few seasons and done ok in most comps, butLiverpool have played second 11's in domestic cups and done well (so horses & courses maybe)

Gleison Bremer to Tottenham Hotspur has just become a lot more complicated after speculation that Chelsea have entered the race.

It has been reported that Spurs would be trying to sign the Torino powerhouse if they could not convince Alessandro Bastoni to come to North London.

And with the Inter Milan defender apparently very happy at San Siro, Bremer is looking like Tottenham’s prime defensive target this summer.

But now Chelsea are involved – and very serious about signing him.

According Di Marzio last night, the Blues have submitted an ‘important proposal’ for the 25-year-old Brazilian rock.

Whoever gets him, Bremer is definitely the real deal.

TOTTENHAM NOW TARGETING £22M BRAZILIAN PLAYER LIVERPOOL REALLY LIKE
CHELSEA NOW MORE LIKELY THAN TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TO SIGN BRAZILIAN STAR
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano wrote for CBS Sport last season about how the stocky defender ‘destroyed’ former Fiorentina hitman Dusan Vlahovic.

And any defender who can successfully shackle the now-Juventus marksman is someone who Tottenham and Chelsea are definitely going to want to sign this summer.

GLEISON BREMER TO TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR?
Even Spurs supporters might admit that the West Londoners are a bigger club.

But don’t rule out the Lilywhites from convincing Bremer to join them instead of Thomas Tuchel’s side.

This is a team who mean business this summer, having signed Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster and Yves Bissouma.

Tottenham are investing heavily in what promises to be a very exciting 2022-23 campaign under Conte and Bremer wanting to be involved in that cannot be discounted.
